Re: Rebel Ops: The Vace Thermill Missions
There are actually no stock BF2 models in there yet, although I'm sure I'll need to use some for props later on. All the buildings (and caves) I modeled, most of the interior props are mine (some are Rends's), and all the rocks are retextured Thule assets from Pandemic's Clone Wars.Ace_Azzameen_5 wrote:Looks great Mav, at least for mostly stock BF2 assets. Maybe someone could whip up some not-so Tatooine rocks.
Not much more than the names. I can say that "The Big 'L'" will be an interior map and that "Bakura: Rogue Assault" will be combined interior/exterior. Both are ground maps. Any more information would be story spoilers for the first map.SBF_Dann_Boeing wrote:Do you have any info on the other 2 maps you're doing for the series?
It is not Kyle Katarn, it just uses the model. The face on it isn't finished.I'm pretty sure that is kyle katarn...

Well, yeah. I just meant that you develop completely new concepts and mechanics with this engine, and your projects always have lots of polish and great gameplay. That is exceptional in my book.Maveritchell wrote:Thanks, I really appreciate it - but let's not go throwing around "bests" - lots of people have done/are doing fantastic work for this game besides me (Vyse, archer01, RepSharpshooter are a few who I think do really nice work).
Sorry for ranking you. Perhaps that was a bit rash.

So, Mav, are you going to release the submarine source files after these 3 maps are done, since it looks really cool!

Re: Rebel Ops: The Vace Thermill Missions
@Ping: Sure, probably.
Unlike my last story map, I decided to go ahead and include an NPC dialogue move (a "talk weapon," if you will) since I wouldn't have to be maxing out the weapon slots for this character.

And I'd love to get some suggestions from people as to what they might want to hear some NPCs say. Obviously I'll be writing all the plot-related stuff, but it could be fun to hear some suggestions for dialogue with the many NPCs scattered around the base. So post any suggestions you have here, and the ones I like the most I'll go ahead and include.

Here are a few things the NCP's can say:
From OFM:
[WARNING:FATAL ERROR!COMPUTER CRASH!]{might've been some thing else, but I forgot.]
2.:
Don't you have some thing else better to do then talking to others?
3.:
Get back to work, you lazy fool.
4.:
Sign...wish I wasn't a clone so I could get a promotion...
5.:
Do you ever wonder how these domes don't leak?
I'll think of more later on.

Is there a way to have the text show up without the "-New Objective-" appearing as well?

I am pretty sure that goes with the localize tool. If it doesn't then I think it should.Frisbeetarian wrote:Is there a way to have the text show up without the "-New Objective-" appearing as well?

That's correct. I'm pretty sure I did that in Spira, too. Right now the screenshot is just a temp shot (dialog is placeholder), to show the talk weapon and the neutral NPC.elfie wrote:I am pretty sure that goes with the localize tool. If it doesn't then I think it should.

Maybe one of the NPC's could make a reference to podracing, since Aquilaris was in Episode 1: Racer.

Maybe you could have the guy who Obi-Wan mind tricked in the Bar on Coruscant again.
i.e. "I used to make great money selling Death Sticks, but some guy with a beard told me to rethink my life, so now I'm here....I wish I hadn't listened to him...."

@Hebes: L. O. L. zorz.
Maybe someone could say:
"Soo-ooo-o.... Dang... Seeeea-si-i-i-iii-ck.... *Throws up*
I know it doesn't make much sense, but I've always wanted somebody in a stable, non-moving, underwater dome to say that.

Re: Rebel Ops: The Vace Thermill Missions
I think I have another. Just some n00b tips.
"I have some maps. Wanna see 'em? Well, look in the top-right corner, or just press "m".
"Wanna go for a submarine ride? I mean, yo have the keys. It's called the "E" or "Enter" key.
