Heyho!

I´m still alive and here´s my 2.0 "Naboo: Siege of Theed" map!
It has reduced file size and some things are new. For example is the flashspeeder now completely propperly working and the droid starfighter has a movielike custom laser sound.

Info in here:
README:

Code: Select all

NABOO : SIEGE OF THEED v.2.0

First of all:

THIS LEVEL IS NOT MADE, DISTRIBUTED, OR SUPPORTED BY LUCASARTS, A DIVISION OF LUCASFILM ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY LTD. ELEMENTS TM & (C) LUCASARTS, A DIVISION OF LUCASFILM ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY LTD.

It´s made by Bantha55.

I´m sorry if I forgot someone to credit. Please tell me then.

-Foolis:helping me with the map
-PsychoFred:Naboo pilot and flash speeder model
-Pinguin:concussion grenade sound(for booma)
-AceMastermind:battledroids without packs

-Teancum:Naboo Prototype assets, obiwan and qui-gon models

-Darth D.U.C.K.:the naboo city wall model and the naboo buildings with fixed collision and lowrez
-Nullcommando:giving me his collected customsounds
-FragMe!:floating weapon icon tut
-AceMastermind:custom droid starfighter laser sound

Bugs:
-N-1 starfighter has no engine sounds
-heavy laser blaster cannon explosion effect isn´t working propperly
-mtt explosion not working propperly

In the next version:
-all explosions working
-AAT with exact fire points for the antipersonnel laser blaster

Installation:
-Unpack the MTK folder and place it in your programms/lucas arts/game data/addon folder
(Just delete the MTK folder if you don´t want to have the map anymore)

Give it a try and some feedback :D

I really enjoyed this map. Bantha55 made really movie-realistic. Very well done, I give this map a 9/10. -1 Because there is still a lot of lag if you fly around in the Naboo Starfighter. Again, great job, Bantha! You've made it to my top 5 favorite maps!

Have you already tried lowering the detail distance in the bf2 options? This prevents the game from lagging for me.

Everytime I load up the map and select a side the game crashes to the desktop. All my video options are on low, though.

Well, first things first....
Hidden/Spoiler:

Okay, feedback:
1) amazing. Map is so huge (really, what terain size is it???) So much stufso much detail. Amazed you didn't break the object limit.
2) While I don't really like your sides gameplay wise (the movie like one hit kill thing annoys me, especially on maps with lots of walking around ie this one) they are very impressive visually, not to mentiomn all the nice new (well not exactly new but oh well) stuff in there (Off-topic: where'd you get the pilot model???).
3) Feel of the map...very like a real place. The difference in environments is also very nice.
4) Effects seem to be overloaded (ie not appearing 90% of the time) but that's probably just my crappy comp.
Overall: Amazing piece of work.

Have you got the convo pack? Maybe you´ve got too much maps in your addon folder. the convo pack lowers the addon limit a bit.

Effects sometimes don´t show up in maps with large unit counts. It´s not your comp. :D
The naboo pilot model is downloadable at psychofred´s site.

You did a great job with the environment in this. I'd also like to know what terrain size you used. 1024 x 1024?

I had a lot of disappearing effects and some lag, but it wasn't enough to ruin the gameplay experience.

I never experienced much combat with the exception of a tank battle or two in the city, but that could just be because I didn't adjust the unit count at all and I spent so much time exploring.

Nice work!

Oh, I got it working. Turns out water quality was still on high from when I was playing Kadrala.

So, feedback:

1. I love that the map is huge, but it takes forever to get anywhere, especially from one point in Theed to another.
2. The MTTs don't really seem to be going anywhere.
3. The one-hit kill blaster shots are cool, I think they add realism to the map.

Overall, nice job! I can't wait to see what the final version has in store.

they´re released at pvtpart´s filefront site(look up the link to his site in the "links to missing maps and mods"-topic.). But there was another model of the cr2 pistol released in the "released assets"-topic some time ago.

yes, it´s 1024 x 1024.
normally there are big fights at the royal guard´s cps and on the grassy plains.

you mean that you can´t find the way or that the distances in theed are too large?
the mtts drive around theed on the grassy plains and reach the swamps after a time.
