Model positioning error

Post by Kyross »

Apparently not many here are familiar with Stargate, but I have been trying to make some technology used by the antagonists of the show( Goa'Uld).

The Deathglider turned out alright but the staff weapon doesn't want to co-operate. Despite it being flat on the Z axis in xsi...

It should be held like

I used the rifle animation bank but even when firing it remains erect and the blasts just shoot 90 degrees from where they should so they still go forward. What can I do that would at least get it close to how it should be?

edit: I also totally forgot about the HUD problem, where it stands up in the middle of the screen.

The hud problem is simple: add 'HUDTag = "hud"' in the odf. Not sure bout the positioning but perhaps yo could reverse it in xsi. so it is wrong in xsi, so it might be correct ingame..just a thought....

Well the first time it stood up it was standing in xsi. I rotated it to be flat by branch selcting the dummyroot and rotating since it was made of a melee version(the end opens or closes to switch) so I thought if he hardpoints were rotated it would still be holding it the same. I deleted them and put in new ones but it still seems to be stuck like this.

ah... good old Goa'uld Staff. Like -_- said, you have to have the model flat on the ground with the tip of the staff facing the z axis.

Though i'm not sure if doing this alone will make it display correctly. It is possible that (as a rifle), the soldier will have one fist in the Goa'uld Staff and another hand actually holding it. Also I am pretty sure the staff will go through his arms.

Offtopic: I'm wondering though, if your making it a ranged and a melee weapon, you can create two xsi models (one prallel to the y axis and another parallel to the z and x axis)

That'swhat I did dabrowski. I made the belee model first, avedit separately. it stod up. Then I laid it down with the front facing the z-axis and split the endinto firing mode and saved aseparately, so it can be swapped to either setting. However, even though it is laid down, it stands in game and though I know it wouldn'tbe perfect being held with the rifle aimations it would be the closest I could get without making an all-new animation bank.
