Miscellaneous Forum Suggestion
This is something I've been thinking of for a while. What if we had a forum dedicated to music played by the GT community? A "Music Showcase" per se. It would most likely go under the Miscellaneous Forum. I know the majority of us here can play at least one instrument, and this would give them a chance to show the community their musical talent. For example, it could be set up so that anyone who wants to participate would create a topic with their name as the title in the music forum, and then in that topic, post links to videos or .mp3's of them playing an instrument. The topics could be updated with more links as needed. The forum will also encourage people who don't know an instrument to start learning one, since they will be able to see other people actually showing what each instrument is capable of.
This idea was inspired by my posting of the PotC piano videos; I know I'll be posting more similar videos and wanted a more "suitable", if you will, place to post them than the media forum.
Would this be possible/a good idea?

Re: Miscellaneous Forum Suggestion
Well, if there was one I'd participate. I've been thinking about buying a microphone for my computer and recording some songs. Nothing fancy on the cello, I'm no prodigy but it would be fun to post songs. It would be easier than going through all the topics in the Media forum but first you would need to know how many people are going to participate.

Yes, that's what I'm trying to find out. In the end though, it's really up to guru.

I like the idea alot , what are your thoughts on setting something up? music.gametoast.com ? hehe. We could do that no problem or just put a new forum area. I also would like to put a shop area where people on here can sell stuff they make/own/related to their job/skill/craft/income.
thoughts.

I'm a counselor, if there were some kind of forum where I could give "Life Advice" that would be super.guru wrote:...where people on here can sell stuff they make/own/related to their job/skill/craft/income.

Re: Miscellaneous Forum Suggestion
Sounds cool, what do you have in mind for it? MP3 Streaming, being able to post videos, etc.? Personally I think a new forum would be easier, but it's your choice really.guru wrote:music.gametoast.com ?
That would be great as well. I know I'd use that.guru also wrote:I also would like to put a shop area where people on here can sell stuff they make/own/related to their job/skill/craft/income.

Re: Miscellaneous Forum Suggestion
But are you interested in what I suggested (the music forum)?Super_Shadowman wrote:... A Gametoast market? I'm indifferent to this. For me it would be unnecessarily complicated selling what I have been handing out for free all my life, and unless someone has cheap food for sale I'm not going to buy anything.
It sounds a bit far-fetched, selling random stuff and all that. I suggest that everyone thinks this through realistically before wasting a lot of time and work on something that doesn't lead anywhere.

Re: Miscellaneous Forum Suggestion
Interesting idea. Too bad I dont know how to play any instruments past a cheap, 10 cent plastic recorder you can get in any school music room..Oh thats right, once we got into 5th grade we got to use real Recorders :O
Could also be like a sticky forum with tutorials made by players on how to play certain instruments, Ive always wanted to play an electric guitar

I hate to be blunt, but...have you decided what you're going to do yet, guru? If not, I'll wait; I have some songs ready to record, but I don't want to keep making topics about them in the media forum.
Is anyone else interested in this idea? So far only eight people have expressed interest.

Re: Miscellaneous Forum Suggestion
I'll agree that that is the main idea behind the site, but that doesn't mean that it can't explore new areas other than modding. For me, this site is the place I go when I want to just relax and talk to some pretty cool people.RepSharpshooter wrote:eh to be honest I think gt is more of a place for game modding.
Plus, we already have non-modding forums, this would just be one more.
Just saying.

Re: Miscellaneous Forum Suggestion
To be honest this sounds like an expansion/revival of the already-there media forum.

What about tutorials about, say, how to mod your tuba into a piano? I think we really need topics like that, I run into the same problems everytime I try.Maveritchell wrote:Playing an instrument =/= modding.redgroupclan wrote:Could also be like a sticky forum with tutorials made by players on how to play certain instruments...
