W.I.P - Ep7 Stormtrooper [stopped]

Post by Anakin »

I found this free printable 3d model, converted it to obj, imported to XSI and put it on the SWBF3 stormtrooper body. Next i'll modify the body.

But i'll need someone for texturing.

==EDIT==

Here you can compare the left one is the swbf3 stormtrooper, the base. In the middle my progress and on the right my reference.
But i'm not good in knees. If you are, pm me and i'll send you my progress, so you can continue working on it.

Looking good so far!

My suggestion would be to start with the knees of X2 - you should be able to manipulate those into the correct shape.

i though of using your body and put the helmet on it :D ähm the body of your ep7 stormie :funny2:

But taking an SWBF3 asset is a good idea. I think i'll take the clone, since it has the complete knee and the pad is just over it. So it's easy to change the pad.

The body wouldn't be detailed enough  Although my more recent version on SWBFGamers is more accurate in the helmet.

Speaking of Stormtroopers, I've been working on my upgraded version recently. I don't have the time to post any screens now of it but they'll be posted here soon. I'm currently working on getting the Sandtrooper bits ready for the game, and this is where the SWBFIII model of the shocktrooper came in handy as I'm using the gear from that, with some modifications.

I must confess to using the TFU Stormtrooper's belt mesh, but only the belt, not even the under-packs (the 2 small packs that attach to the belt at the front) or the detpack on the back, which comes from the first SWBF3 model. The helmet has been through many stages of changes since I first adapted it from TFU Wii's 501st mesh but it pretty much looks right to me now.

Yep that's a shield. It was part of the ripped trooper. it's from a new pin ball fx2 table and not allowed to use. That's why I'm doing my own ep7 stormie

He carries a shield when he shouts "Traitor!" at Finn and promptly drops the shield and his blaster to draw his electrobaton.

Some good progress going on there with it.

Hey, i have an own topic :D thanks staff for moving.

I made some last modification to the cuirass.
Hidden/Spoiler:
Image
next merge everything together and i tried to copy the envelope with gator. I saw the option to copy UVing and material as well, so i gave it a try:
Hidden/Spoiler:
Image
And it worked :D So i only need a few UVing fixes and then modify the texture.

==EDIT==

i cleaned up the UVing a bit, and fixed the UVing around the knee. Here is the result. To become a prospect about what this will be, i darken the texture and quickly copied the helmet part from the ripped texture to the swbf3 texture.

not much "visible" progress. It looks worse than before.

But behind the curtain i fixed much of the UVing. So i decided to show you my new UVing today:
Hidden/Spoiler:
Image
I have 6 groups side by side.
(from left to right)
garbage - stretched ugly over the whole texture. Need to figure out where they go.
old right position - that's what is still in right place from bf3 stormie but broken.
old left position - that's what is still in right place from bf3 stormie but broken.
fixed left position - that's what i repaired from the left position.
fixed right position - that's what i repaired from the right position.
fixed Center - that's what i repaired and is not left/right but cantered.

next steps are:
- fix the rest from group 1 to 3
- rearrange the fixed island UVs
- make a new texture for the UVing (I'll need you help here. You know my textures are terrible as you can see at my Magma addon texture).
- RELEASE!!!
- get lot's of thanks

I'd suggest making the inner thighs less concave, maybe even slightly convex. Looks great so far, Anakin.
