Weird cloth collision
Hi, I make an Obi wan player model, I follow the steps for export the mesh correctly and works perfectly with the animations and weapons. now, I put a cloth geometry in the model following the tutorial for add cloth, but the cloth appears weird in the model.
I.E:
1) I make a cloth geometry (kama), then, I freeze all transformations, then envelope the cloth to the bone_pelvis, then i put the cloth under "dummyroot".
2) I make an sphere named c_1 (it is very big, I change the radius in the popup window), then, my sphere is in the "floor" i move up it with the normal traslation (key "v") to the pelvis. then i put the sphere under bone_pelvis
3) I make two cilindres with the previus steps for the legs named c_2 and c_3.
4) go to "edit flags", then I select the collisions, then I selec the fixed points.
5) then I export the model.
6) I make a .odf with the correct lines for cloth like rep_inf_ep3obiwan_shirt.odf (or something similar)
sorry, I have not images now, but if i are doing something wrong please correctme. thanks!

Re: Weird cloth collision
What does "weird" mean? Does your cloth stick out at odd angles? Does it not appear? Does it work like cloth, but doesn't read the collision? If you can get pictures, they might be helpful.

did you use the clothtool to select fixed points and colllisionprimitives?

Sorry, yes, the "CREATE CLOTH" tool.DarthD.U.C.K. wrote:4) go to "edit flags", then I select the collisions, then I selec the fixed points.

this is the result in game:

Re: Weird cloth collision
Your collisionsphere may have to be bigger; cloth collision usually needs to be (bigger than you might expect). The leg collision should be made from spheres, too - I don't believe cloth collision can use other primitives.

Re: Weird cloth collision
Do you have your collision primitive in the root of the model or under the respective bones, they need to be under the bones or they done move with the legs etc.
Cloth collisions can be any primitive. I have used a cube to drape cloth over a box. (don't ask why

Re: Weird cloth collision
yes, every primitive is a child of therespective bone. in my case, the c_1 (sphere) is a child of bone_pelvis, the c_2 and c_2 (cilinder left an right) has childs of the legs bones (I forget the name...)FragMe! wrote:Do you have your collision primitive in the root of the model or under the respective bones, they need to be under the bones or they done move with the legs etc.

now, sory if I can understand this, Can i move, scale o traslate the primitive with the usual keys tools? I.E. move (key "v") scale (key "x") and rotate (key "c") in objects mode or can be transform in the polygon mode (keys "u" and "y")?

Re: Weird cloth collision
no, you can only translate and rotate them, they have to be scaled through the propertypage

Re: Weird cloth collision
Using cylinders as cloth collision might give you problems(look at your pic of the cloth penetrating Obi's legs) since they don't always seem to work, I would stick to spheres which have always worked for me(it's definitely working in your pic, just in the wrong place), but if cylinders work for you that's great.

Re: Weird cloth collision
I tried ussing only spheres but the collision of the legs is ignored again.

Re: Weird cloth collision
you have to delete the "PandemicCloth_Fixed" cluster and the pandemiccloth symbolchild of the clothobject and make it cloth again in order to edit the parameters...
otherwise no changes wil be applied

Re: Weird cloth collision
I do that, and remove the orange "C" under the cloth geometry.
