For the top one I used a series of brushes off of Deviant Art and the bottom one I used the Fractal Explorer, Filters > Render > Fractal Explorer. Just found that out now its much easier to get a good background without doing much

On the bottom one, I can see that you used the plain ol' nebula fractal. It looks good, but could be better.

but here are some I've made in the last few days, i got into it making avatars for a game called "eRepublik", so this first one is for a friend's company: and these two are Avatars for a company i'm going to make in the future. note: i screwed up the first one, and completely restarted on a new canvas for the second one... EDIT: i also made a simple, yet effective avatar for myself, and i actually got the idea from Freedom Force OK i just made another one out of boredom for my friends company, no colors this time: also, at dohnutt: by AA you mean America's Army? if so what clan are you in?

Thanks guys! I finally got the adding background down and here is one I just finished (and yes I know I post to much but Gimp is addicting ),



I've been following this tutorial and so far everything is easy, I just can't get all of the text effects working but I guess it really doesn't matter much.

I haven't used a tutorial since 2007... I think i might just so i can make cool stuff like your's...

and everyone else's on here...

Something simple I made. Gonna make it my avy eventually. There are words I wrote one it. They say "Fluffy" in the top right, and "It's Sarcasm" in the bottom right.

Just a quick sig I whipped up:

It's my first sig, so its not that good. I used part of this tutorial for the first part, a layer of ice. Then I typed my name in aurabesh, gaussian blurred it, rotated it, put it under the "ice" layer, then erased the ice layer with an opacity of about 20%
