Mod tool 7.5 Control Issues.

Post by Epifire »

Hey guys I have been using the basic 6.0 modtools for a long time but I now require the 7.5 for some other work. I actually downloaded the exact one linked in this site, if that helps to know.

Well anyway I have had a few issues because of its lack there of in user interface, in comparison to the 6.0. Several things I cannot find are duplicating symmetrically, the edit texture projections system, and of course object reference snap. The old interface that had most the options available in the top panel...

There are what I would call some bugs, or just some thing I cannot toggle off. One of which would appear to be a symmetry unit that screws up moving polys, or points because of its failing compensator which I will show here...

There in the last picture you can see a bunch of points I selected that were once in a uniform line until some compensator moved that lower point downward as I tried to adjust their position with the transform tool.

Some other things I cannot find would also be freezing transforms, and having a spot light on the user camera. There is no apparent option for those either. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am just not used to any other versions.

Freeze Transforms is at Transform>Freeze All Transforms.
A big part of the sidepanels seem to be hidden because your monitor is too small. Some more information would definitely help. ;)

Well I am not sure what you mean by my screen being to small. I guess if there were a way to adjust the XSI resolution, that may work if that's what you meant.

I guess the lack of user interface, and "auto-compensation" (not sure what its called) is my main issue. Cause some of the main things I used in 6.0 doesn't seem to be available in this version. I know the handy buttons are usually a short cut, as I now found freezing transforms (thanks for that btw).

So now that leaves me to finding out how to duplicate symmetrically, as well as some of the other things. I think the compensator I was talking about was like the like the symmetrical transform button in the 6.0 version...

That raised area in the pic' was caused by having the transform's symmetrical option on, so this leads me to believe this was activated in 7.5 some how.

By too small he means your screen resolution. If it 1024 X 768 try and go higher
This is what the default screen looks like on modtools 7.5 as you can see the buttons you are looking for are there.

it probably depends on the layout you chose whether you can see the buttons. in the 1024x786px layout the contrainbuttons are hidden and can be accsed by clicking "MAT" in the lower right corner. maybe its the same with the transformoptions for you.
