WIP: Deneba: Mount Meru

Post by darthtyren »

Deneba: Mount Meru
Deneba is a sight of bloodshed and the loss of many Jedi during the Great Sith War, otherwise known as the Exar Kun War. The Jedi held a Conclave on Deneba atop Mount Meru during the Krath Holy Crusade. The meeting was disrupted by the Krath War Droids that fell from space to the planet below.

This is my first official map, and I have encountered one tweak so far, and am currently working on it.

Map completion: 99%
-Terrain: 96%
-Planning: 100%
-Objects: 100%
-Boundary: 100%

how does the maplayout look like? from the screen it looks like a bland space with rockwalls around. the next thing that comes to my mind is that the texturecolors dont fit together.
im sorry for sounding harsh but right now that pretty much everything you can see. is it really around 90% done?

I just took screenshots using FreeCam. I didn't actually run around and take shots. If you want me to, I'll do it and upload them. But as far as I can see, not what anyone else can see, yes, it is around 90% done.

I got done fixing the tweak, and I have added cover(it's just rocks, but remember, this is the inside of a mountain.

I also have gameplay pictures:

Why is the ground so painfully bright?

It has good potential, but like mention before,
1 Add some cover, rocks whatever
2 change the terrain levels a bit, some small hill variation make a big difference on open maps, FLAT MAPS SUCK
3, if you want it to be big and open put some vehicles to make travel/battle easier.
4, Like Xavious asked, whats with the bright terrain. did you add looades of lighting or smthing
5, Try to make the cliffs and ground match and transistion beeter, it makes a big difference visualualy.

I know thats alot but wouldnt say anything if i did think you could make it better

1) You should examine the pictures more carefully.
2) I do have some hills, but you make a good point.
3) Again, you make a good point.
4) Honestly, I don't know what's with the bright terrain. It's been like that ever since I made the first post. I added the light last thing today, as suggested by DarthD.U.C.K.
5) I did try, I really don't quite understand what you're talking about.

1) a single rock on a plain is not "cover". It still looks very, very open.
4) try changing the "color" of the terrain to a dark color maybe? It defaults to 255 255 255. 128 128 128 is better.
5) What he means is there's a big difference in color and texture between ground and cliffs. Some small rocks around the bases of the cliffs would help too.

If its a really big map maybe you could make the maximum players size a bit bigger aswell.

1) I have more than a single rock.
4) That might help.
5) First, should I change the texture around the cliffs? Second, I'll do that.

I'll do that. After the actual mapping is done.

Umm, better burn the terrain, it will help much more.

5. In order to make this a little better, copy the texture used for the mountain, rename it to
???_???_dark then make the texure darker with gimp, or photoshop or what i use, photoimmpression 5, then use bthat as a ground texture between the mountain and ground.

Still way too open, still too little objects. If you keep denying it, but everyone keeps saying "You don't have enough objects", then maybe you actually don't have enough objects.

And please change the sky.

I'll add more objects, then. But what is wrong with the sky?
