Mod Tools 7.5 Unable to initialize main parameter dictionary

Post by RevanSithLord »

I searched the forum and could not find a topic on this specific start up error for my installation of the Mod Tools. I also searched Google, but no matter what I typed in from this error (not even partially), no result was found except for unrelated problems on their support forums. Not sure if anyone else here has this problem?

I have a Windows 7 64bit Operating System and have heard people have trouble. I had trouble installing it once, with full access as administrator even, but finally managed to install it yesterday. Yay! I go to start it and then this error prompt on the splash screen pops up:
Hidden/Spoiler:
---------------------------
InitMainParamDict()
---------------------------
Unable to initialize the main parameter dictionary.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
And then it says the program has stopped responding, so I have to close out. Icemember and I have been trying to figure this out, because I wanted to get back into modeling and ACTUALLY get a custom model out for a change. So I find this one error at one point too:
Hidden/Spoiler:
---------------------------
sireg.exe - System Error
---------------------------
The program can't start because Crosswalk_3.3.32.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
So I reinstalled as it suggested and same thing. I even followed someone's suggestion to uninstall Quicktime, but that was for a different startup error somebody had, so I decided to give it a shot. Nothing. I installed Crosswalk 3.3. Didn't help either. Is it suppose to be somewhere specific if I do find it?

I look at the Install.txt located in the Application folder. A few .dll files had ACCESSDENIED by them, so I have no idea what to do about that, because I checked the actual files and all the permissions are okay, so it must be a different problem altogether.

Here's that .txt's content:

Am I doomed because I'm on a 64bit OS? Is there even a 64bit version of the Mod Tools out there? Did I install it wrong like the silly person that I am? I'm probably missing something somewhere that I need that came with XP 32bit way back when, or so Icemember guesses. I really just want to properly get my projects underway. :) Thanks for whoever takes the time to help! :D

It'd probably be best to take this over to SI-community.com where former Autodesk Softimage support Stephen Blair (aka xsisupport) is likely to read it and offer solutions.

It took several installs on Vista to eventually get it to work.

I'm on Windows 10 64bit now and it installed first time.

@Ace - thanks, I'll try that.

@ggctuk - I suppose I should give it another go on reinstalling, eh?

Thanks for the replies. I'll post back if I get it to work or not. :)
