Keeping UV Mapping After Formatting.

Post by Epifire »

Simple as put I need to keep my UV mapping after transfering to msh. So heres my settup...

I use Softimage v6.0. I use Crosswalk 3.2 to export to meshexbeta3. And yes I finally got that to work if people don't remember how many times I asked about that. So thats what I use, but now that I can export there is only one problem and thats the texture UV mapping. Because for some reason it isn't included with the model.

This is what one of my arches looks like before the transfer (In xsi)....

Now in msh viewer you will notice the same textures of course but with out UV mapping.

How to include it is beond me but I tired to merge all the textures by rendermap but I couldn't get the right x:res settings to make it work.

So how do I work about this?

Did you check to see how it looked ingame?
Did you freeze the construction history before exporting from XSI?
Don't use RenderMap in XSI 6 Mod Tool, there is a bug that produces diagonal lines in the resulting image, this bug was fixed in Softimage Mod Tool 7.5.

Will try that. Also I was wondering about those diagonal lines for some time now.

But that makes sence. Really though I didn't know MSH viewer was wrong about how it looked. Cause I thought thats how it should look.

EDIT
Well after all that I still get the delault lay out of the texture. But get this, the textures them selfs are in the right spots that I had moved them into when I used edit projection. They just don't have the correct repeats.

So how is it you fix or edit that?

export the whole model as obj, reimport it and try again to export it to msh, that can sometimes fix iunexplainable bugs.

I heard about that but I never knew how to re-apply materials again. Maybe there is some way to do that but I wouldn't know. At least not presently.
