Post by Thunder »

Hello, I edited my world using ZE and munged then poof~!, nothing in the world changed.

Did you edit a layer for a different game mode than the one you're trying things out in? Did you edit, for instance, the CTF layer and try it out in Conquest? This sounds like a beginner's mistake, then they do get to everyone occasionally, so they're worth checking for.

A question - why did you call this thread "Same Worlds"?

He obviously tried to change the terrain, and that's all we need to know for now.

@Thunder
Is the .ter file set to Read-only?

Compare the contents in the .ter file before and after you edit it with ZE. This way, if it does change, we can pinpoint the problem to the munge and not to ZE.

On a side note, how quick was the munge?

I would guess that you would compare it to see if it changes at all after you make a change in ZE to your map and save it.

Basically, look at it before you open up ZE, then make a change to the terrain in ZE and save your map, and then look at it again to see if any changes have been made.

Hope it helps!

You can open it with notepad. You can just copy it before hand, then compare the copy to the new one after you change it. The first thing I'd do is compare file size. If that's changed, then the file has changed.

If you have MS Word, I believe it has the ability to compare documents to see if there's a difference.

I'm not sure if by new terrain you mean copy the .ter file from a new clean map and see if it changes or if you mean to change the terrain of a new clean map to see if this is an overreaching problem, but whatever works. My next question in fact was going to be "Does this problem happen on other maps as well?"

Righto, hope it works out. If not, do you have an answer to my two unanswered questions: the speed of the munge and whether this problem parallels across maps.

When you open it back up with ZE, does the old or new terrain appear?
