installing mods
I'm pretty new to the whole modding thing and am having a problem. I download the mod, save it to add ons, extract the files, and nothing. Does some know where i can find a troubleshooting or an idiots guide to installing mods? It would come in handy...since...well...I'm an idiot.

RE: installing mods
lol. most files come in zip format so unzip them (anywhere). Once you've done that you'll have a folder and maybe a readme file. OK well copy the folder into the Lucasarts\star wars battlefront\gamedata\addon folder and you're done. To select the game go to single player and then instant action and the mod will be down the bottom of the list and that's it.
The contents of the folder that you're copying across should have an data folder and an addme.script file.

RE: installing mods
SOmetimes the actual mod folder is in the fodler you unzipped though. if you open a folder and it has a Data and an addme inside it, that folder is the level folder you need to put in your games AddOn.

Where to put .lvl files?
Hidey-Ho Neighbors!
I'm having a bit of trouble installing a particular mod and I'm hoping someone can give me a little guidance.
I downloaded the "Echoes of the Force" .rar file and decompressed it, but it only contained the files- cis.lvl & rep.lvl with no readme file to tell me where to put them. I've deduced that they probably should go in the AddOn folder, but I don't know if I need to create a sub-folder for them or what I should name it if so.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

NEVERMIND....
My eyes deceived me, I shouldn't have trusted them!
The midi-chlorians spoke to me. The Force guided me to find the solution.
Thanks anyway.

hmm is this a map or mod? either way Ill give you two answers first if its a true full blown mod that works in SP and all games then you need to install that by pasting the files into your Lvl_PC folder (found in you Gamedata/data folder of BF) BUT BE SURE TO BACK UP YOUR ORIGINALS! so then you can just copy over them later
If it is a map (which I dont think it is) then just extract everything to the addon folder.

Thanks, RDST
You're exactly right, it was a mod. I figured it out after a little more research on GT that night. I've done everything you suggested, including backing up the original files, and it works perfectly. (Although I haven't decided if I like the changes enough to keep it) I'm guessing that I might run into trouble if I ever try to play multi-player games. I may just stick to Unreal Tournament for my MP mayhem.
(After all, I'm still on dial-up and my LAN party freinds don't play SWBF)
