Hello all,
recently i've begun concept information for a tri-map series, to do with the battle for Minas Tirith, from Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.
the first map i am beginning with is the battle for the Gates of Minas Tirith, in which i need a lot of help with.
Positions (those without names urgently needed to be filled):
- Modeling Buildings: (some of this is coming from Lord Bandu already, but he cannot permanently fill this position)
- Modeling/skinning Units:
- Modeling weapons:
- Scripting:
- Bug Testers:
- Terrain Mapper: AJay
This will be a great trilogy of maps, with the first being the Gates of Minas Tirith, the second being the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, and the third is undecided at the moment...i am unsure as to go for a battle on the inner city of Minas Tirith, or in Osgiliath.
Any and ALL help is needed here, please, this is an urgent cry. Let the White City make its way into this great game...

you're not the first one planning these maps
I know some are as well
But it's mainly Helms Deep and such whic are the plans.
it sounds like a cool map
But before you can say you need models or scripters etc. you HAVE to have some concepts! Something which people can do to get it all started
Maybe make an arsenal of weapons and see if people wants to make some (maybe i'll help as well?
)

@ Linus: ok, well no offense mate, but i dont give a rotund rodent's rectum if ur not joining the team, and thats saying it politely. if you dont have anything constructive to say, DONT SAY ANYTHING!
@ CmdAt-A: im well aware that there have been a lot of attempts/wips of the lord of the rings maps, and im not going to say mine's gna be the best, but variety is good...certainly XWing Guy's Battle Over Endor map is not the only one of that title?...
now, back on-topic...Me and Qdin have been talking over making more variety with my 5 unit sides, im not entirely sure which way to go....

The Battle for the Gates of Minas Tirith
Command Posts:
1. (Gondor Controlled) CP One is located at the gates of minas tirith, the concept being that when the orcs take it the gate “opens” letting more orcs in (adding onto reinforcement count)
2. (Gondor Controlled) CP Two is located in the central courtyard of the map. The buildings that surround this command post are good archer posts, so it’s good to keep this command post.
3. (Mordor Controlled) CP Three is located along the top of the wall. The Orcs are scaling the walls with their siege towers, and are climbing over into the city. (Very near the command post will be a set of stairs leading down into the city)
4. (Mordor Controlled) CP Four is another siege tower, the other direction away from the gate.
5. (Neutral) CP Five is located in the armory, north of CP Three. Armory gives upgraded weapons bonus to whoever controls it.
6. (Neutral) CP Six is located in the stables, north of CP Four. Stables give energy bonus to all ally troops.

1. (Soldier class) – Gondor Soldier – Weapons:
· Gondorian Sword (primary)
· Throwing Knife (secondary)
2. (Heavy Class) - Tower Guard – Weapons:
· Throwing spear (primary)
· Gondorian Sword (secondary)
3. (Sniper Class) – Gondor Archer – Weapons:
· Hunting Bow (primary) (Upgrade to Marksman’s Bow)
· Throwing Knife (secondary)
4. (Engineer Class) – Healer – Weapons:
· Staff (Primary)
· Hammer/Tools (secondary) (building utensils)
· Athelas Potion (Power-Up)
5. (Special Class 1) Faramir, Captain of Gondor – Weapons:
· Marksman’s Bow (Primary)
· Gondor Sword (Secondary)
· Ranger’s Cloak (Power-up) (Acts Same as Bothan’s Stealth)
Evil:
1. (Soldier Class) – Orc Slasher – Weapons:
· Jagged Sword (primary)

well i can't remember off hand what the odf file is, but the buildings i was going to use for the surroundings of the center cp, was one of the naboo buildings, which had a right angle platform with stairs either side....i was going to have four of them in a square formation (with space between them) for it....so i could put that idea on those platforms, but i had the original idea for those ppl that love sniping...
