How do you make lava?

Post by Fiodis »

I was wondering, how do you make lava? I need to know in order to make Sammath Naur, but the only tutorials I found concerned water. Is lava the same thing? With some death regions added?

Just as a little thought exercise, what would make water different from lava? How would you go about making this, knowing what you know? Have you seen examples of something besides what you can come up with?

Well, I would assume that lava would be the same as water, with death regions.... But the thing that makes me so unsure that I post a topic is, in Dann_Boeing's phsycadelia map, he has what looks like some reskinned lava, but it's flowing in a river, and I never saw normal water do that. So I thought there was an extra step or something. Is there?

No, there's not. Liquid in maps is water, whether it's acid, or lava, or milkshakes, or whatever. If you see anything else (like you mention) it is a prop with an animated texture.

Oh! Thanks for clearing that up, Mav. Now I'll get that working.
