Adding water to maps...

Post by Linus »

Hello world!

How do I add water to my map? I've been reading around in the forums, but I can't find anything useful. Can someone help me, please? Thanks in advance...

First, you need to go into water editing mode in ZE. Then, if you move the cursor over the terrain, you will see a blue square. Click to place water there. in the box to the right, there are many options, like height, etc. use the tooltips to help you.

once you have placed your water, then go to the assets folder for a world that has water, for example Kasyyyk. So go to assets\worlds\Kas\world2 and open up the kas2.fx file located there (in notepad). Somewhere you should see a section labeled "water". copy the section entirely and paste it into the ***.fx file in data_***\worlds\***\world1 folder. Then notice that there is a texture and maybe some .fx files mentioned in the water sections. Copy said files to the world1 folder as well.

Save the .fx file, munge common, and you should have water in your map!
