Re: Halo based Blood Gulch map
With the two era choices, i reckon its probably worth making custom halo sides, even if they're just the multiplayer sides with master-chief models.

Export any unit with meshtool. When you start on your model, open the save dropdown list in XSI, select Import -> OBJ. Then just remember to delete him before you export.SW_elite wrote:How do you get the little man in the middle of your model, cuase I have a lot of trouble getting the right sizes on models...

I'd be happy to beta test if it's still open.

Looks good so far, but to me, especially in the last pic, it looks a little empty.

Re: Halo based Blood Gulch map
I plan on closing it in a bit and adding a few more rocks, but this map is vehicle based so it won't have too many props to block the transports. Anyone know of any released Halo vehicle models(not ripped) by the way?

Working on a Scorpion Tank. Having a bit of trouble on getting a good tile-able texture that is the right color for the main part though. The one I made is too symmetrical tiled....and getting the color right is annoying. Turret looks kinda meh too. I'll work on that.

Re: Halo based Blood Gulch map
If you find one you like thats the wrong colour, just change the hue or fiddle with the colour in an art program like gimp or photoshop. Its really easy to do and i don't see why you couldn't do it.
EDIT: Ok, I've had this map almost done for a while, and i felt it was worth posting it for all to see. I'm giving it to Culvar to add to his map, and i thought it would be better to post it with his, as this is for his mod. Its an almost exact replica of the Halo Combat Evolved multiplayer map, Hang 'Em High. It currently doesn't have Culvar's sides on it, so they're basically just stock. There is only one main texture used, and that's a concrete based one with a normal map applied to make it look better.
Models 100% - The map is one big model, and as such, is 100% done. All textures (2
) have maps applied (one has a normal, the other has a glow).
Sides 0% - Not added yet
Planning and Barriers 100% - Due to the multiplayer nature of this map, it doesn't work particularly well in Single Player. I have added as many barriers and planning as is possible, to make this a bit more fun in SP, but the covered sniping area is unreachable by the AI, the walkways above the map are unreachable by the AI, and one of the bases is impossible for the AI to climb, due to a tunnel underneath which needed planning.
Updates before completion - There are two things which I'd like to fix to finish this up. The first, and most major one is the texture. I'm having trouble with the UV's and the texture on certain faces is stretched beyond recognition, while others are fine. The only other thing which needs fixing is the View distance for the map, as you can see the sky through the opposite corner where it fades out. Last of all, I MAY add some additional textures to add variety, but its not a definite possibility.
And without further ado, the pics

Oh, and if anybody could help me with the stretched texture bug, I would REALLY appreciate it.

I don't think BF2 does normalmaps. Anyway, the textures look a bit boring. I get the sense that there are just textures missing, even if there aren't (my computer renders missing textures as grey).

Re: Halo based Blood Gulch map
BFII does have them. They just don't get used as much. I agree with the textures though, it just doesn't look right having every area the same. Could there be different textures on the floor and the walls and some more color on the walls at least?Fiodis wrote:I don't think BF2 does normalmaps. Anyway, the textures look a bit boring.
Also I just watched a video on Youtube: the original DOES have different textures on the floor and walls (and doesn't have the unusual shadows you have and it's a bit brighter)
But the layout looks nice. I'm sure it will have some good gameplay!

Yeah, normal maps work fine in bf2, you can see as much from the textures in the pics. I'll try and get some variety in terms of textures, but I'm kind of doubting I'll find any good ones or be able to make any good ones. I'll definitely try though.

Re: Halo based Blood Gulch map
well, normalmaps dont work well in battlefront, they cant do much more than bumpmaps can and i suppose they suck more resources, all in allthey dont have much effect in the cases they would be usefull
about the texture: you definitelly need more textures, right now it looks dull and in the heat of the battle i suppose i would run right into some structures because i couldnt seperate them from the ground etc.
using a different texture for the bloodgulch mountains would improve the overal look too
feel free to use one of these if they fit, but please credit me

I'll try them, but I don't know how well it'll look. The textures are extremely tiled.
