.OPTION: -bump [Solved]

Post by sharkmon7 »

I'm working on creating a base that is within the cliff/mountain, such as the Hoth Hangar entrance. I wanted to know how you can run through a building that sits in the terrain without being blocked by the terrain itself. I opened up the .wld of Hoth in ZE and I saw that the terrain is still there and the base just sits in front of it. I then looked at the .OPTION file of the Hangar Entrance and it said -bump. So:

1. How can you run through the base entrance that is going through the terrain in ZE?
2. What does bump do in the .OPTION file?

Thanks in advance.

Off topic: I still wish to obtain the 5.11 foundation trial version.

-bump means it has a bumpmap for visual appeal. It means the object has a terrain cutter if I understand what you are saying. Someone released some terrain cutters awhile back.

So I would have to obtain a terrain cutter and open up what I need? Because Hoth is all underground, and the terrain is still visible. A terrain cutter did that then?

Ok, so where can I find one, and is it self-explanatory on how to use it?

So basically all I had to do was make the shape according to my entrance and then place it in ZE with the right ODF properties? If so, then I may as well make my own shapes, UNLESS FragMe did something to the cutters in XSI that I can't do in Maya. I hope this will be my last question. Thank you very much though.

That's true, I could do that. But what exactly makes the box, cylinder, and rectangle 'cuttable?' Is that only done in XSI, because the ODF didn't look very special. :P

The name "terraincutter" of the object in the hierarchy gives it the ability to cut through terrain, we have a tutorial here for creating your own.
