I followed the above advice (twice) and...well, if it worked I wouldn't be here now. I've been thinking what I could possibly have done wrong, but I have simply downloaded and installed the modtools. And yes they are rooted to the C: drive. So, unless anybody does know how to help me, is there anybody with modtools who would be willing to send me a copy of the appropriate DLL files? (I only appear to have lecsetup2.dll, so if there are any more that my install has misssed out, please send them also). If anyone is willing to help, reply here and I'll PM you my email. Thanks is advance! This application has failed to start because binkw32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

Help me please! - never mind, problem solved.
My problem is this: I finally decided to download to tools and try my hand at modding the game, but after I downloaded and installed them from filefront, I get this message when I try and run them:

If you are trying to (which i think) run the BF2_modtools (with the clone trooper face) you need to place that in Programfiles/Lucasarts/SWBF2/Gamedata. That should fix it. I'd help more but i cant focus at teh moment!
Oooh and welcome as a modder and hope to see some pretty cool things from you! Good luck and may the force mod with you!

You sure? It says to just do everything from the root folder...but I'll give it a bash...
*EDIT*
OK, it works! Thanks buddy! But I'm running the DVD version of the game, and it wants 'CD 1'...does this mean, after all that, I can't use them anyway, or is there some way to maybe "fool" it into thinking that I have the CD version in there?

Are these the BF1 mod tools or the BF2 mod tools?
With the BF2 mod tools when you install it you the go, Start Menu: All Programs: Lucasarts: BF2: Mod Tools, than run visual munge to create your level: than go into your C drive and go to the BF2_Modtools, click on the folder that is data_(three letters you named your course) and than run zero editor to start edidting. If you were already doing it this way i dont know what to say.

To start teh a map go to BF2_modtools directory. Then inside go to data/Build/Modtools VisualMunge. Taht should get some ground/footing beneath you.
EDIT- and/or what Thrawn said.

You could also just copy the .dll into the folder where you installed the mod tools. That way, you can install the mod tools where ever you want.
