LucasArts nexgen partnership

Post by Moving_Target »

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – August 8, 2006 – LucasArts today announced an agreement with Day 1 Studios to develop a new intellectual property for release on next-generation console platforms. Emphasizing ground-breaking gameplay, and focused on interactivity that is only possible with next-generation platforms, Day 1 Studios plans to leverage its proprietary technology to deliver a revolutionary gaming experience.

Day 1 Studios is a premier independent developer whose vision is to create revolutionary, interactive entertainment through the application of superior design, artistic, and technical processes. Day 1 Studios created and developed the award winning ``MechAssault'' series for Microsoft and Xbox Live. Day 1 is currently developing multiple products for next-generation platforms at their studios in Chicago, IL and Hunt Valley, MD. Additional information about Day 1 Studios can be obtained at http://www.day1studios.com.

“LucasArts is determined to deliver outstanding new ideas to next-generation consoles, and our partnership with the great people at Day 1 Studios creates another opportunity for us to bring innovation and creativity to the market,” said Peter Hirschmann, Vice President of Product Development at LucasArts. “The phenomenal technology created by Day 1 directly affects gameplay in extremely innovative ways— and it perfectly complements the engaging story and intriguing characters you’d expect of a LucasArts title.”

“We wanted to work with a publisher who would set the bar sky-high,” said Denny Thorley, President of Day 1 Studios, “It’s a privilege to work with the creative minds behind some of the most successful franchises in entertainment history, and we are inspired by the opportunity to work with LucasArts on their first entirely new property specifically for next-generation consoles.”

LucasArts and Day 1 Studios will announce product details at a future date

Sounds interesting. Plus one of teh games they are making is a 360 version of F.E.A.R. Can't wait to see them make a Star Wars game! :D

I am noticing the above Statement was primarily intended towards Entertainment Products which will be designed and released for Next-Generation Consoles, and as I have not taken that much spare-time in order to read it in its Globality, I was wondering whether you have ever heard about possible News dealing with the fact Video Games conceived for Microsoft® Xbox 360, Sony® PlayStation 3 and Nintendo® Wii might be sooner or later ported towards our good-old Personal Computers, or are they definitively condemned to be used for the Development and Compiling of the concerned Resources ?

Off-topic : Hopefully, LucasArts® and most of its Affiliated Development Studios should figure out that reserving these same Video Games towards the Consoles I may have set as examples earlier might not be that favourable and profitable for them, else be sure ordering the latest Products being engineered and released by ATI®, nVidia®, AMD® or even INTEL® won't have that much Sense and Justifications for launching and playing Star Wars© Classics aged of several Years...

They say that now, but just wait until Lucasarts starts giving them all sorts of limits to get people to buy an 'incomplete' game.

Off-topic : LucasArts® isn't certainly the only Entertainment Company to impose such Restrictions and Prohibitions towards the Development Studios having decided to work in collaboration with it, and as far as I can remember, a few Star Wars© Video Games have not undergone that many Radical Modifications or Removals, such as those belonging to the Star Wars : Jedi Knight Series, and that's why I prefer awaiting for Day 1 Studios® First Producings before becoming sure that they will follow the same Path as Pandemic Studios® or Obsidian Entertainment®, for examples...

Off-topic : I have to admit that I have missed this Precise Detail earlier, but in my opinion, I doubt LucasArts® would become ready to abandon the development and release of Video Games inspired from the Star wars© Universe, and for that reason, I would firstly await for additional Informations regarding the upcoming Projects led by this same Company before being certain it has definitively chosen to take advantage out of Day 1 Studios in order to introduce sort of brand-new Gameplay and Environment, being actually for now rather abstracted and subjected to all kinds of Speculations...

It's not unusual for LucasArts to create a non-Star Wars game, but to discontinue creating any Star Wars game is unrealistic. Bottom line, I think they might only be saying that this next-generation game won't be Star Wars. Besides, isn't there already a next-gen Star Wars game in the making?

Off-topic : In fact, persons knowing whether the "Force Power Previsualization" Video File will be eventually featuring an upcoming Star Wars© Entertainment Software aren't that numerous, and so far, a few Rumours may have even stated this same Trailer was basically intended to demonstrate the Potency and Algorithmic Combinations allowed by the Graphics Engine it is presenting, which isn't actually proving it could be sooner or later exploited through one of the Products only licensed by LucasArts®, although Chances to drop out them are indeed rather unsignificant. Therefore, for now, we do not have many Choices different from awaiting additional Precise Details regarding the Future of Star Wars©-related Devisings...

I wasn't saying that there'd be no more Star Wars games, but rather pointing out that this particular partnership won't produce a Star Wars game right off the bat, and that speculation about what it will be is pretty useless until we see some more details.

Well seeing as it's Lucasarts i think their theme of video games would be that of the films that George Lucas makes meaning that they could only really go off the theme of star wars when he does more films not based in the star wars universe. Have you heard of anything like this coming up? :P

Off-topic : The Recent Announcement regarding its possible Affiliation with Day 1 Studios® and the fact the Video Game featured thanks to the "Force Power Previsualization" Trailer has not been tackled that much on LucasArts® Online Location has eventually let me thought that the Future of Star Wars®-based Products licensed by this same Company would be eventually somewhat unsure, but I have to admit that waiting for more Informations about them is actually the best Decision to make for now, while hoping you will look into my previous Suggestion as much accurately as possible...

Yeah there are lots of LucasArts games coming out that are non-Star Wars. The devs probably like to take breaks from time to time unless they're hardcore Star Wars nerds.

Off-topic : I assume LucasArts® has rather willed to extend its Influence Domain towards a more important Surface, and that's why it has usually supported and commercialized Products which weren't that related to the Star Wars® Universe. Above all, I guess this same Company has equally aspired to check out whether it could gather Financial Resources coming from the sales of Designs different from those having made the Fame of it, merely to make sure this Firm could succeed in becoming sufficiently present onto other Sectors so as to guarantee its constant Evolution within the Years to come. Furthermore, I doubt that Star Wars®-related Devisings could remain at least as much enjoyable as currently in the Future, and for that reason, attempting to explore Alternate Paths could be rather profitable and helpful for it, especially if the Products it might plan on releasing would be similarly saddening than Star Wars Battlefront I or even Star Wars Battlefront II, for samples...
