The Force Unleashed 3 cancelled and unnamed projects on hold
Just a rumour, but this could be the reason Haden Blackman left:
http://kotaku.com/5614577/rumor-lucasar ... developers
It seems the new boss, Paul Meegan, is wielding an unmerciful sledgehammer on all things developed by non-LucasArts developers too. So expect no more LEGO Star Wars or Indiana Jones games.

Yeah, this dude won't last long at Lucasarts. He's cutting internal development down, and cutting external development completely? Expect one game every three years if this guy sticks around. The Lucas franchise "owners" as a whole won't stand for crap like that. If he doesn't produce games, he's not an effective leader whether he's cost-saving or not.
Is it bad that I don't like this guy? He seems like a Bobby Kotick (Activision CEO).

Some of his decisions make sense in light of the BFIII Free Radical debacle but the rest just don't, I agree.

Nope, you're right, he does seem like Bobby Kotick. Who knows? Maybe we'll see subscription fees to play any SW games online by next year if he stays around.Teancum wrote:Is it bad that I don't like this guy? He seems like a Bobby Kotick (Activision CEO).

As one of those articles said: He's the most hated man in Video Games. He doesn't care about his customers, he just wants everything to be his way, and in case you didn't know, he's putting subscription fees on CoD next year.Teancum wrote:Kotaku sums it up nicely below:Ping wrote:For those of us who are relatively uneducated (Fluffy_the_ic wrote:Nope, you're right, he does seem like Bobby Kotick. What? Why? It's not an MMO, and alot of devs are doing the opposite. Boy, now I probably shouldn't get Modern Warfare....Fluffy_the_ic wrote: As one of those articles said: He's the most hated man in Video Games. owait. Never mind, they changed their minds. Even so, this new guy at LA seems quite a bit like Bobby Kotick.Ping wrote:What? Why? It's not an MMO, and alot of devs are doing the opposite. I think this man is destined for greatness. I'm a tad upset about no more Lego games, but I can get over that.

LucasArts is dead. They've dug their own grave. No more BF3, TFU3, or any games based on the intellectual property of Lucasfilms. And once George kicks the bucket, LucasFIlms is dead too. Pay your respects now, boys. It's over.

I like to think that the franchise is still heading somewhere, just not where we expect it to go.

TFU 3 would be a bit too much. Back in the day they realized when Kyle Katarn got stale and made him a secondary character. I'm pleased with what's coming out right now, but it blows my mind that there hasn't been a SWBF3 announcement yet. Your #1 cash cow and you're not dangling a carrot in front of consumers?

Well, it seems as though it was planned when Free Rad was making the game, but we don't really know the full story. I'm assuming that Battlefront III was supposed to release along side Elite Squadron (Actually Elite Squadron would have been named after III) but something went wrong in development and caused Lucasarts to stop the funding and strip the rights from Free Rad. It's a shame, really. The leaked footage looked great. It looked like a next gen Battlefront.Teancum wrote:TFU 3 would be a bit too much. A next-gen Battlefront, if made and marketed right, could be an instant hit. Give Lucasarts the much needed boost, because I don't think there is a single person who thinks the decisions they have made lately are good.

There's rumours that Rebellion are still working on BF3 but are attempting to acquire the seamless ground-to-space tech that Free Radical had.The Nasal Abyss wrote:Well, it seems as though it was planned when Free Rad was making the game, but we don't really know the full story. Elite Squadron would have indeed been BFIII but I doubt that it was being made by Rebellion at the same time as Free Radical's BFIII. More likely that Rebellion were going to make it as BFIII but changed their minds.

Honestly, LucasArts hasn't done anything right since KOTOR 1. Sure, TFU was a good game, but can you honestly think of anything that's gone right or how people want after KOTOR?

Not to get too off-topic, but why don't you like KOTOR? Sure, KOTOR 2 wasn't as good, but I haven't really met anyone who didn't like KOTOR 1.Nova Hawk wrote:I'm not a fan of KOTOR so I would say yes.Ping wrote:Honestly, LucasArts hasn't done anything right since KOTOR 1.
