CIS Skinning tut.
This is a tut for what I do to skin droids, plus some simple things to look for when you skin.
*No pics, sorry*
Disclaimer: Im not sure if this works in photoshop, it works in GIMP
1. Open a CIS skin, like a droid.
2. In GIMP, it will show up al clear, and everything will be hard to see.
3. To change that, put a black (Foreground) layer behind the actualy droid layer.
4. START SKINNING!!! With black, everything should show up great, black and dark colors are recommended. (NOTE: When you skin, remember to skin on the droid layer, not the background)
5. When you are done, delete the background, and follow normal skinning procedure.
NOTES/ GUIDELINES:
-When skinning a SBD or a MAGNAGUARD, look for red dots. Those are eyes.
- When skinning a SBD or Magnaguard, look for circles. Those are joints, and there you will find arms/ legs.
-If you succesfully skin a normal droid (NOT A DROIDEKA, MAGNA, OR SBD) all other droid ckins look just like it. Copy of that when you work.

*Good luck skinning!

Never looked at it that way before, i have only changed the alpha channel.
Nice new way to do it, might have to try it out just to test, and does this reduce the shinyness or not?

I dont know, on GIMP, when I edit, the background shows up transparent or white, so skinning can be challenging, cuz its all shades. With black behind it you see it all.

Re: CIS Skinning tut.
In GIMP you can just go to transparation and treshold the alpha layer... Voilá and solved!

Don't worry; it works right? And if there are more people like you; understand your way and not mine, means that you helped them out with this tut!

Re: CIS Skinning tut.
Go to layers, new layer. If you have black as your main color, choose foreground color as the layer. If not, makew it black and do the before steps.
Next, there should be just a big thing of black on the screen.
"HEY THATS NOT WHAT I NEED!" The reader exclaims.
Well, go to dialogs, find layers, and click on the black layer, and move it under the other layer.
Then go back, and everything should show up beautifully. Then, when you are done skinning, get rid of the black background by going to layers, and trashing the black layer. Just remember not to do and changes on the black layer, do it on the skin layer.
This may seem like a lot.. It isn't. Its easy, so just try it.

Re: CIS Skinning tut.
Could you post a picture of the droid with arrows saying what parts are which? Like Dragon93 did for the clones?
