*Takes ridiculously large and exaggerated breath*

I have been working on this map since August now, and finally decided it is about 50% or more done. Though I haven't modded in about a week (school was very demanding), I intend on continuing to work on this map. :P Gametoast, I present to you:

RHEHN VAR: MOUNTAIN


The completely non-canon story: The CIS has made a base on the icy planet of Rhen Var in a small fortress on top of a mountain. The 333rd Legion (made up by me, yay! :D ) Was dispached to take the fortress or destroy it. They flew in a small fleet and managed to destroy part of the fortress before they were intercepted by a equally small CIS fleet. A large space battle ensued. The Republic managed to destroy the enemy fleet, but the planatary force was able to create a small defense around the ruins of the mountains. The Republic was unable to launch a large invasion because the way up the mountain was too small and the anti-aircraft guns were too powerful. Fortunately, a few gunships were able to land a small force of clones at the base of the mountain in a quick move. Now the battle for the mountain, which is very stratiegic (misspelled? :? ) begins.

The Republic side is not finished yet; I intend to add one more unit and a few units are not done yet.

333rd Legion Clone Trooper

Just a normal clone trooper.
Weapons:
Blaster Rifle
Thermal Detonators
Pistol

333rd Legion Rocket Clone

Hidden/Spoiler:

Heavy clone with a rocket launcer and cold-weather armor on.
Weapons:
Rocket Launcher
Push Grenades
Thermal Detonators
Pistol
The push grenades, carried by rocket clones and clone commanders are deadly, even though they do absolutely no damage, they are almost a guarantee of death, because they can push you right of the mountain into the mist of doom.

333rd Legion Sniper/Scout

Hidden/Spoiler:

Everyone needs a sniper! (not really, well, kind of)
Weapons:
Sniper Rifle
Thermal Detonators
Pistol
Recon Droid
The snipers of the Republic held a protest after Battlefront II stole their recon droids, and they got their recon droids back, complete with orbital strike.

333rd Legion Medic

Hidden/Spoiler:

The medic goes about the battlefield healing wounded soldiers with his heal gun thing, only protected by a pistol.
Weapons:
Heal Gun
Health Buff canister dispenser
Pistol
Recon Droid with orbital package health dropper thing(maybe, still trying to get it to work)
The Medic's buff canister, when picked up, activates the health buff thing like the bothan spy.

333rd Legion Commander

Hidden/Spoiler:

The clone commander leads troops into battle.
Weapons:
Special Commander Gun(like the movies)
Push Grenades
Tripod Turret Dispenser
Pistol
The commander's primary gun shoots twice rapid fire if you hold the trigger down.

333rd Legion Special Ops Clone

My personal favorite, this clone is as fast as he is lethal.
Weapons:
Explosive Ammo Machine Gun
EMP Grenades(still halfway done)
Sprint Cannister Dispenser
Poison Dispenser
The special op clone's dispenser dispenses two identical fluids: Energy for sprinting and poison. You will be paranoid after getting a thought speed boost that is actually poison.

CIS


The CIS side is complete, I belive, but it was made for my Felucia map (RIP :( ) so a lot of its weapons are stock because I was just beginning to make custom sides at the time.

B1 Battle Droid

Hidden/Spoiler:

The B1 Battle Droid is a cheap but practically useless soldier, only effective in numbers.
Weapons:
Blaster
Thermal Detonators
Pistol

Droid Scout

Hidden/Spoiler:

The scout is fast and can snipe stealthily but is very lightly armored.
Weapons:
Sniper
Invisibility
Detpacks
Poison
Recon Droid
Fusion Cutter
Please note that the invisibility only works when you are standing still.

OOM-Series Droid Commander

Hidden/Spoiler:

The droid commander is very powerful and can mow down clones as it leads droids.
Weapons:
Blaster
Arc Caster
Damge Increase
Detpacks

Droid Weapon Specialist

Hidden/Spoiler:

This droid is moderately slow but carries some heavy weaponry.
Weapons:
Chaingun
Tripod Turret Dispenser
Heavy Portable Laser Cannon
Time Bombs
The Portable Laser Cannon can shoot three blasts that are very powerful.

Support Droid

This unit is complete noob central with a shotgun, high health, health packs and more, but is incredibly slow. Beware!

Rocket Launcher

Mines
Health Packs
Autoturrets
Thermal Detonators

Close Combat Droid Droid

This droid is very low in health but has two powerful close range weapons.
Weapons:
Incinerator
Flamethrower

B2 Super Battle Droid

This droid is very powerful but very slow, but not as slow as the Support droid.
Weapons:
Repeating Blaster
The repeating blaster is a super macine gun like in the movies, not the wimpy one from regular battlefront, but is not as strong because of its 500-some clips.

Done with sides! :o

Some things I need to do:
Hidden/Spoiler:
-Finish Republic Side
-Find the orbital strike smoke effect(anyone know what it is?)
-Fix a huge gameplay issue where units will not follow pathing after certain point
-Polish(loadscreen, satillite shots, etc.
-a lot of other small trivial things
-I probably am forgetting a lot of stuff because I'm tired
-localization
-getting rid of one gunship that refuses to move around and shoot

Pretty good job, although I suggest using Icemember's white clone templates to use for a clone trooper template

What does your mod have to offer that makes it more than "just another map with custom sides"?

I'd suggest making the lighting a teeeeny bit more blue, but above all it looks pretty neat!

@cressalbane: Sorry for the kind of nooby question, but its that done in the fx or sky file? Everything in either file that has to do with lighting is about darkness and contrast.

Aren't all custom maps maps with custom sides? :? Though if you mean stuff like functions, I think the gunships auto piloted are pretty cool, just my opinion. If you don't think that's enough, I'm open to suggestions. :wink:

I think it looks better. I do wonder if the green clone skins will clash with the environment though.

Thanks. The colors aren't too bad, you don't really notice them. :wink:

Very small update:
-Republic Medic's special remote droid is finished, info:
--Less powerful healer
--Does not die from running out of energy
--60% health of normal remote droid
--No trigger explosion, instead replaced with a health regain canister
--You have to use an ammo droid to refill its ammo, you can't pick up ammo to refill it
-Republic Sniper Rife now is blue-green instead of green.
-The lighting is now as above.

Very small, as stated above. :wink:

I think that the green does clash with the environment a bit better, the skins themselves are nice but I think plain white or a light blue would work better. :)

I just want to say that I think this map looks great and I can't wait to play it :) I love the environment and think the autopiloted gunships are pretty cool imo.

If I do have one critique, it would be to darken the green on the skins. But overall it looks pretty great :)

Thanks guys! :) About the color of the clones: I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to remain with the green color as that's the 333rd Legion's main color :wink: ('Cause they're eco friendly :funny2: and I'm very sick of blue clones after playing the stock game) But, um.. yeah. They will stay green but I will consider darkening them, if even just a little bit; Also, the last clone may be just plain white or something, maybe not, not sure yet.

NEW REPUBLIC UNIT!!

333rd Legion Clone Technician

Hidden/Spoiler:

This clone is deadly to his enemies and helpful to his fellow clones with a close range electric mortar thingy and fusion cutter. He also has a machine gun tripod portable turret and mines.
Weapons:
Electric Mortar
Fusion Cutter
Machine Gun Tripod Turrets
Mines (longer throwing range)
I'm still doing some small tweaks with this unit (damage and health and stuff like that) and I may change its skin.

I'm considering maybe, emphasis on the maybe doing a beta test or something after I get a filefront account, figure out how to upload a password locked download, finish a few other things with the map, so if you're interested, just saying that I may do it.
