Computer refuses to display images on a .doc file

Post by [TFA]Padawan_Fighter »

Tested this out thoroughly, and I'm positive that my computer simply does not wish to show graphics on a .doc file. This is really frustrating when I'm trying to read the BF2 modding docs. What do I lack here?

Do you get any image loading errors when opening doc files with images or do they simply not load?
What OS do you use?
What program are you using to open these doc files with?
It sounds like you just need to install additional image filters, Oconvpck.exe is what you want.

I use a Gateway FX running a Windows 7.

No errors at all, but when I load up the docs, the images are represented as extra characters bundled together.

Also, the download link for Oconvpck.exe is not working.

It looks like the link got screwed up somehow, here's a backup:

but seeing that you don't get any loading errors I don't know if the additional filters will help or not.

WordPad doesn't support .doc files, so it shouldn't be too much of a surprise that there's a problem in viewing parts of it.

I use WordPad for viewing doc files without a problem in XP Pro, according to that wiki article WordPad's support of doc files ended with Vista so you'll have to find another way.

I have the BF2_modtools documentation online HERE. I also have them converted to PDF which i'll upload later and provide a link.

Ah...well dang. Used to work with XP. I guess the online version will work just as well.
