New Lightsaber Texture.

Post by Cerfon Rournes »

Say I want to make a new Saber texture. For this, I have a question..
How would I make the glow around the blade? Some hints/tips to accomplishing this?
Thanks.

I made mine in Photoshop by making the white core shape and then duplicating that layer. then I took the bottom layer and ran a gausian blur filter. Ran that again at a few different blur radii, merged the blurs and colorized. Had to export to tga using GIMP though.

well if i am interpreting this right, you want to change the glow of an object in the texture file that you opened. i only have GIMP so i'll just give tips for gimp. i was guessing that since the saber and its glow are the same texture, you could really just paint up anything around the middle blade and have it there. if i am interpreting you wrong then don't look at me just look above my post because it sounds like that guy knows a bit more about what hes doing

Or you could use "glow" tool plugins. I'm certain there are a few out there for Paint.net (if Paint.net doesn't already come with a glow tool). I know for a fact there's one for GIMP; I used it on occasion.

It's not normally there; at least not in the version I have (2.0?). I had to find and download a plugin for it.
