Mission.lvl? [Solved]
Okay so I'm new to modding and I've read a lot of tutorials. They all say that when you've munged everything and its time to package it, I need to make folders and stuff. Well I've made everything I'm supposed to except the part where to put the core.lvl and mission.lvl into the _LVL_PC folder. I can't find them and to my understanding, they are supposed to be found in the BF2_ModTools\data_MAP folder. I've tried a lot of things and been searching everywhere for them haha.
I really really hope I don't have to download the mod tools all over again because they take so long to download on my internet connection. I'm guessing this is a very dumb question and easy to fix because I don't see any posts about it and the tutorials don't really say much about it either. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Mission.lvl?
I think you have to look in your data_MAP\Common folder, Thats where they should be!

Re: Mission.lvl?
Sorry but i don't really get what you're saying. When you munge, all the files you need are automatically copied into your addon folder. You don't need to create any folders or move anything around yourself. Its all done for you.
If you're still looking for your mission.lvl, it should be in your _LVL_PC folder, in your data_ABC folder.

Re: Mission.lvl?
Okay well then I suppose its not munging properly, because when I munge all thats in my addon folder is my MAP folder, my data folder, my addme file, and my _LVL_PC folder. Nothing else. Not even my worlds file in fact. So what do I do?
I looked in that folder and all that's in there is my mission and core (and a bunch of other files) with .req at the end. I'm looking for mission.LVL.SW_elite wrote:I think you have to look in your data_MAP\Common folder, Thats where they should be!

Re: Mission.lvl?
Have you changed the default installation directory? The first time I installed it, I changed the directory and it happened to me this same thing. If you changed it, uninstall it and try installing it again without changing the path.

I have no idea what you are trying to do, so please tell me. When you munge, all the folders you need for playing are in where lucas..umm, said.fasty wrote:Okay well then I suppose its not munging properly, because when I munge all thats in my addon folder is my MAP folder, my data folder, my addme file, and my _LVL_PC folder. Re: Mission.lvl?
Here's an update. I decided to download the mod tools all over again. I figure, since I have such a slow internet, it must have somehow left out some parts. When I install it, I won't change the directory and, I'll just see what happens. I'm almost positive now that its not a problem with munging, but there's just something missing here. I don't even have a _LVL_PC folder in my MAP directory at all. Thanks to everyone who has posted on here so far.

Re: Mission.lvl?
After creating your world what did you do?
And I suggest finding the Dir path of what you put in Visual Munge, then go there and see if the folders are there...
Also, I think I know what tutorial you are using and I found this bit at the bottom and it may be helpful...[/color][/b]
And sorry about before, totaly wrong folder, I just didnt read it properly cause I was tired.

Also, I think I know what tutorial you are using and I found this bit at the bottom and it may be helpful...
Code: Select all
So this is what you should end up with.
A folder called MAP
In that folder, a file called addme, and a folder called data
In the data folder, a folder called _lvl_pc
In that folder, 2 files called core and mission, and a folder MAP
In the MAP folder, and file called MAP
And sorry about before, totaly wrong folder, I just didnt read it properly cause I was tired.

Re: Mission.lvl?
So let me get this straight. After installing the modtools, you went into your data folder and ran the visualmunge program there, which set up your world name and modes. You then munged in your data_ABC folder, but there is no _LVL_PC folder.
WHen you use visualmunge, one of the options along the top bars is to set the location of the swbf2 addon folder. Try setting it from there and then remunging. If you are trying to do all this from the data folder, you're making a big mistake. I would recommend reading all the files in the documentation, specifically the getting started docs.

Re: Mission.lvl?
Haha nice SW_elite. Yes I'm using that guide. Lucas, that's exactly it, there is no _LVL_PC folder in my game dir. I downloaded it just like I said and same problem again. I did not mess with the path, it went to the C drive and everything. So now I know its not me downloading it wrong. I'm really confused.
A little helpful information:
I have Windows Vista
I Downloaded from FileFront

Re: Mission.lvl?
woah. That tutorial is weird. The _LVL_PC folder is NOT in your data folder, its in the main data_ABC folder. If you're looking in data_ABC/data/_LVL_PC, you've got it all wrong.
Could you please post us a picture, including the location bar, of where your _LVL_PC folder should be? Its definitely there somewhere, i just have a feeling you're looking in the wrong spot.
The last thing i can suggest is creating a new map and try that one.
Also, try the docs that come with the modtools. They're at C:BF2_modtools/documentation. Specifically read through the getting started doc.

Re: Mission.lvl?
Lucas, I've read every one of the documents in the documentation folder. I've read everything I can find and nothing says anything in regards to this. I've tried making tons of maps and always get the same problem. It says the attachment board quota has been reached

Sorry that they are kinda small I don't know how to make them bigger really.
If you need any other picture let me know.
I have not messed around at all with it, I just reinstalled the mod tools and made a quick one called ABC.

Re: Mission.lvl?
Have you gone into the build folder of data_ABC and run visualmunge yet? Because _LVL_PC won't be there if you don't munge anything. All that the _LVL_PC folder is is storage for all the munged files before they're copied over to your addon folder.

Re: Mission.lvl?
Yeah, the pictures work fine when we click the links. I have absolutely no idea what it could be. Maybe its hidden? although that seems extremely unlikely.
Its probably something to do with your computers OS, not an error in the modtools.

Re: Mission.lvl?
IDK how to do that Starkiller.
Yeah I was hoping it was not my OS (Vista)
I could try it on my brothers computer (He has XP)
Yeah I have hidden files on viewable.
