My only problem with him is the level 72 Garchomp. There's a reason the Smogon rules have him banned.

I already hate him now. The farthest I got was to Aerodactyl - twice - and both times it gets a critical hit on Feraligatr with Thunder Fang, killing it.Fluffy_the_ic wrote:You're gonna despise Lance when you go through the E4 again. I usually send out Ampharos to kill Gyrados in one hit, then I send out Golem to dish out some damage with one Rock Throw, as Outrage makes it faint in two hits, and then I send out Feraligatr with Ice Fang and just hope for the best.ggctuk wrote:And you can never seem to get Thunder to hit either, right?
It can be done. I did it with Feraligatr and Ice Fang. And lots of Revives/Full Heals/Full Restores.

Re: Pokemon Heartgold and soul silver
I have Soul Silver. My friend code is 0045 5461 5595 if anyone here is interested in adding me. Be sure to PM me or post here so I can add you as well.
I'm up for battles and trades. For battles, you name the max level and I'll do it. Just a heads up, but I'm not much into competitive gameplay or anything, so my Pokemon aren't EV-trained. Would prefer to fight others who are the same. As for trades, feel free to look through the Pokemon listed below and make an offer via PM.
And a list of my best Pokemon, for bragging purposes (these are all legitimate, no Gamesharks/ActionReplays/whatever).
My "game team" (the team I used to get through the game, excluding the updated Elite Four battles and Red)
Other rare Pokemon/special Pokemon/Pokemon I like (most imported from my Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/FireRed/LeafGreen)
I also have a bunch of lv100s on my Fire Red, including two Blazikens, Claydol, Mewtwo, Groudon, Rayquaza, and more. Sadly, I can't find my Fire Red.
By the way, does anyone have a Razor Claw they don't need?

Re: Pokemon Heartgold and soul silver
I think I have a spear one laying around in one of my 4th Gen games. I'll go check them. But You'll have to wait until the weekend, which is when I will hopefully buy myself a DSI.
Oh, for bragging, using AP, I produced about a dozen or so Mews on my Pearl game, then sent them to the GTS. I have all legendaries thanks to that, counting my SS ones.
Or at least few remain from my collection... yet!

Re: Pokemon Heartgold and soul silver
Hey guys, i need a bit of advice about what pokemon to get rid of. I want to add dratini and abra to my party, but i already have a full party. I've just finished the goldenrod gym, and this is my current team:
What should i do to improve it, and is it even worth adding dratini and abra? is abra any better than gastly?

I'd get rid of Bellsprout. I used a Bellpsrout/ eventually Weepinbell on my team up until the Radio Tower's Rocket takeover, but I eventually found it hard to train because there weren't any types it was super-effective against (and a lot it was weak against). I also never found a Leaf Stone to evolve it until I got to Cerulean Cave. Just not a good choice for later in the game. Replace Bellsprout with Abra.
And if you really want to add Dratini, decide for yourself which Pokemon on your team is becoming difficult to train or isn't pulling its weight.

Is it worth having both gastly and abra on my team? are they to similar to both be effective? I do like them both, i just wasn't sure if it was wise to do...

Re: Pokemon Heartgold and soul silver
You might want to get rid of Onix, if you can't trade it into Steelix it's pretty much useless after this gym. I have to warn you though, Dratini takes hours of grinding to level up.
I recommend keeping Gengar, while Alakazam has a good Sp.Attack, Gengar just does it better and has more immunities and resistances. It can also hit it's main problem, Psychics, with its own Ghost attacks for super effective damage.
I actually suggest keeping Bellsprout. While they may not be the best in super effective hitting, they know the always necessary Sleep Powder (75% Accuracy), which will also free up a slot for Gengar now that you don't need Hypnosis (60% Accuracy). I can see a good Weepinbell/Victreebel ending up with:
Energy Ball/Leaf Storm (Leaf Storm is a Victreebel move only)
Sludge Bomb (North of Mahogany after Rockets leave)
Sleep Powder
Cut/Flash
If not, you can always find a Tangela on route 44, they evolve at level 33 with Ancientpower into Tangrowth, a damage sponge that also can learn Sleep Powder (level 5). There's also Oddish, but it's your choice really.
Try to get your team up to about level 20-25 before leaving for Ecruteak, Morty will completely destroy you right now.

I'm currently in battle with Suicune. Hoping I'll win, it's shiny! Although I did a lot of save-resets to get it... I was spurred on because Articuno was shiny on my second try (not intentionally, mind - Articuno killed itself the first time with Struggle)

I...finally...beat..Lance! I did in fact, get lucky (Ice Fang froze one of the Dragonites), but I still feel great. All's I needed to do was just give two rare candies to Golem and Feraligatr each.

Rare Candies really aren't very rare at all in HG/SS. Not only have I only used 2 evar, but I have 8, and you can buy them for only 2500 athlete points at the Pokeathlon, which is easy to achieve if you're bored enough to play them. I really miss the old contests...Ping wrote:I...finally...beat..Lance! I did in fact, get lucky (Ice Fang froze one of the Dragonites), but I still feel great. Re: Pokemon Heartgold and soul silver
I think i'll probably get rid of Bellsprout. After having a look at pokemon type chart(http://forboards.tripod.com/Chart.html) , i realised that i can effectively beat all the types its good against with my other pokemon. I'll go without dratini, and just keep onyx, which i got through an ingame trade around the first gym area...

The candies are useful for when you're too lazy to raise your Pokemon, though.Fluffy_the_ic wrote:Rare Candies really aren't very rare at all in HG/SS. Anyways, I've been thinking of evolving my Gloom, but I'm not sure which to evolve it into: Bellossom or Vileplume. Any suggestions?

Re: Pokemon Heartgold and soul silver
I'm having trouble deciding between my Sapphire's Bagon, level 38, and my level 40 Dragonair that originally knew Extremespeed, but that was deleted by the [Diet Dr. Pepper] day care.

If you have a Heart Scale, you can get Extremespeed back via the Move Tutor in Blackthorn. Since you have Sapphire, try fishing by the Ever Grande waterfall for Luvdiscs. They may be holding Heart Scales.

Actually, you can't. The Extremespeed is a special move, like a TM or HM. The Heart Scales only work on moves learned by level up, such as Wrap or Leer. Sorry Fluffly, you're out of luck unless you can find someone to breed ES onto another Dratini.

I just slaughtered Morty with my now lvl 26 Kadabra! Killed them all first shot, even Gengar. :maulsaber:
Is rage any good? Because i want to teach my Croconaw Surf, but i'm not sure what to get rid of. He has Rage, Ice Fang, Water Gun, and Bite.... I'm thinking either water gun or rage. What do you guys think?
