The non-flashing Bothan
Guys, I want to make a nonflashing Bothan and I want it to be like the v1.2 pack where it's compatable with other online players that don't have the non-flashing bothan mod. Is this possible?

Re: The non-flashing Bothan
Oh, srry I meant this:
You know how the Bothans flash out of stealth periodically while ur walking or standing etc.? I want to turn that off. I just don't know if what I do will allow it to be compatable with others who don't have it.

Your Bothan flashes people..?
No, don't worry, I understand. But I don't know how to stop it, sorry.

I know how to stop it. That wasn't my question. I was wondering if it would crash other people online if I used it.

If it involves odf changes then yes, it'll cause online issues. More than likely it will crash.

Yep, those are checksums put in place for many reasons. One of which is to prevent that type of cheating.

Re: The non-flashing Bothan
I am unsure if it will cause crashes (if its a weapon stat change, then it will). However if it doesn't, you will have the disadvantage. You will be the only one with the modded Bothan, so only the Bothans you see will not flash (and thus you won't see them). For everyone else, their games have the normal Bothan loaded, so all the Bothans they see will still flash.

Re: The non-flashing Bothan
The stealth "flashing" in and out is a weakness built into the weapon. It can be modified in the .odf, and, since it is an .odf parameter, it will cause online crashing. No way around that.

Re: The non-flashing Bothan
Speaking about invisibility, is there a way to NOT become invisible but become undetected by the radar? more like changing the invisibility weapon into "sneaking mode"? it would be great for surprise attacks and the like...

Re: The non-flashing Bothan
I belive that the bothans stealth may just be a texture change. The MSH mods itself to have lots of transparency. If that is the case then all you need to do is tell the stealth not to do that. It could function like the Disguise kit in the 1.2 patch.

Excuse me, let me be more clear.Tourny wrote:I belive that the bothans stealth may just be a texture change. The MSH mods itself to have lots of transparency. If that is the case then all you need to do is tell the stealth not to do that. It could function like the Disguise kit in the 1.2 patch.
It. Will. Not. Work.
Why in the face of the truth do you refuse to believe it? It's not just a "texture change," it's an ODF parameter, like I said above. And it wouldn't work online. And there is no disguise kit in the 1.2 patch.

Excuse me Maveritchell, I was answering the above question. I do not deny what you said. I think that the stealth itself activates a texture change (or whatever it is that adds transparency)

My mistake then - please forgive me for being testy.Tourny wrote:Excuse me Maveritchell, I was answering the above question. I do not deny what you said. I think that the stealth itself activates a texture change (or whatever it is that adds transparency)
But no, there's no parameter to control how visible you are with the stealth weapon - appearing on the radar is tied in to your appearance of invisibility and cannot be changed. Likewise, the disguise kit doesn't make you invisible to radar, and there's no parameter in it to change that either.

You are forgiven.
And here's another thing. I see that the base classes are things like "Soldier" Where would I find those?

Re: The non-flashing Bothan
these classes have no parent odf (if you should have asked where the solider etc. odfs are stored)
these are the hardcoded baseclasses of battlefront, it tells which odf-parameters can be applied to a thing with that certain class
as example: a solider-odf will not take a parameter like "ShotDelay"
