So I guess Wednesday will determine BF3's fate.

Re: Battlefront III News
Free Radical no longer has anything to do with SW:BF3. If you read any of the other articles, even the one right before your post, they mention FR's downfall due to "several canceled projects," which include the aforementioned game.

That and their other games and prototypes, the technology they were making and who now owns Free Radical.

Re: Battlefront III News
However, on the absolutely astronomical chance that Lucasarts bought FR that would bring them back as the devs for SWBF3. But that ain't gonna happen.

Re: Battlefront III News
would be nice if LA bought Free Radical. of course, they would have to throw the LA logo on TimeSplitters.

Gah, true. However Lucasarts is trying to expand -- Fracture, Thrillville and a number of other new properties have been created by them in the last ~6 years.

Crytek (developers of Far Cry and Crysis) bought Free Radical.

Re: Battlefront III News
upsetting. I don't have a big knowledge of game producer- maker relationships, but can't lucasarts just keep paying fr to continue the game?Wasn't that exactly happening before?Teancum wrote:Crytek (developers of Far Cry and Crysis) bought Free Radical.

Re: Battlefront III News
i'm glad free radical has a home. never played crysis, but heard it was good.
Edit:
Yeah, could LucasArts just give the job to Crytech, since they have fr and then the game wouldn't change too much?

So, seeing that page, does it mean that Free Radical can continue it's work on BF3?

Re: Battlefront III News
Crytek is good, and if crytek continues BF3 (who knows if this will happen, it's up to lucasarts) that might mean a crysis-quality Battlefront.

Re: Battlefront III News
It means nothing at all. Free Radical lost the contract months ago, because according to news sources they missed a major development milestone (like an alpha, or beta) by months. We're sortof hoping in vain that Lucasarts will hire them back after the alpha footage got leaked, but that's never going to happen. It goes back to my painter analogy. No matter how cool a painter's paintjob is, if it's months overdue you're not going to go with him again.Nova Hawk wrote:So, seeing that page, does it mean that Free Radical can continue it's work on BF3?

Re: Battlefront III News
I'm pleased with this news. I'm glad that crytek bought them and that TS4 still has a chance and to be shiner. Finally a franchise that would have excellent graphics and gameplay.
FR continuing SWBFIII, like Tean said, will be a far stretch. Further than 12 parsecs.

Re: Battlefront III News

Re: Battlefront III News
Speculation, sure, but man, imagine BF3 with a Crysis editor?
Tell me you wouldn't love to mod this way

BTW, look at the news on the Crytek site.

From the sounds of things on there, they acquired ALL of Free Radicals assets.

Hold up though, are the BF3 assets even classified as Free Radical's assets anymore though?

*sigh* Thank goodness I can quote myself
