Actually Tie Fighter and the ones that followed Xwing vs Tie Fighter etc were very good games for their time period. Very tough at some points even just going through the pilot proving ground could be hard as things went a long. It is a total flyer game though so you'd have to like that kind of thing. The Rogue Leader and Rogue Squadron games were very good too. IMHO

Because Tie Fighter is an amazing game. Trust me. If you've never played it, you're missing out. Graphics really aren't everything; that's been rated by many people as the best spaceflight-sim ever, and it certainly was my favorite game when I first got it.
I as well was actually surprised to see Jedi Knight Outcast as #1. In reality, I felt that tie fighter was a revolutionary game for its time. Also, Battlefront 2 should of at least come in 3rd place. I was surprised to see Empire at war so far behind. Meh, there are always more games to come.
Jedi Outcast came in first?? That's... sad. And wrong. Though it does feature one of my favorite cheat abilities: spawning any NPC you want, assuming you know the code for it. lol I had more fun with that creating my own battles more than actually playing through the storyline...
I say... meh. Republic Commando wasn't on there (like that game), and Jedi Outcast...well I could never get the realistic saber combat to work. Didn't like that one much anyway. If I did the coutdown, BF1 & 2 would share the top spot, with modded BFII above number 1. And The Force Unleashed would be somewhere on there.

hahaha! I believe what you do is go into the console (~) and type npc_spawn_(any creature or human etc.)
I usually do npc_spawn_rancor_mutant
EDIT:
Yea, we should have our version of the GameTrailer countdown, more like the GameToast countdown!
Super Star Wars was on that list! Yay! xD
But I have to say, that list was pretty good. Though, I've never played Tie fighter, Star Wars Arcade, or that Empire Strikes Back for the Atari. They sure looked cool, but I'd like to put JA somewhere on the list. But well well...
Edit: JK2 at the top feels a little weird to me, I got that game for the GC (probably not as good as the PC-version). Some missions are just so [bad word] hard and slow... And the splitscreen mode is kinda laggy.

While I really enjoyed Jedi Outcast, I agree that it shouldn't be at the top. The saber combat might seem good at first, but after awhile you realize that it's just running around swinging wildly.
As for Tie Fighter, I was never able to play it, even though I really wanted to. I bought the game, but for whatever reason it didn't agree with my computer and wouldn't install. Even after all these years, I still have everything sitting in its box on a shelf though. *Sigh* I've been so deprived, haven't I?

If you want good graphics, you should play the Tie Fighter Total Conversion for X-wing Alliance. It may also save you compatibility issues.
If you don't have XWA, its about $0 no, 1999 game. Bought a few years back for ~$15.
I'd take Jedi Academy over Jedi Outcast. JO was great, but would have been perfect with JA features (I.E. the ability to change Kyle's clothes, saber hilts, fighting styles, etc.) Yeah, I know there's three styles in JO, but there's no lightstaff or two-saber combat.
