Mandos and their "culture" were around way before Episode II, actually
Well yes, of course, but Boba Fett was mentioned and seen only a handful of times in the original trilogy, and in fact, correct me if I am wrong, Boba Fett's name was mentioned only once. Yes, I know, books blah blah blah, Internet blah blah blah, but the movies were and are the core of the Star Wars fan base, and people were truly in awe when Jango Fett was featured as a huge plot point in Attack Of The Clones.

And you're not wrong, it did explode in popularity after Episode II, but GL himself stated in an interview that the only reason he included Boba Fett as a child waas because of the huge following he already had. Jango helped the popularity, yes, but the *origins* of the fanbase come from a guy who, like you said, did very little onscreen.

Yeah, I remember being a bit of a Boba Fett fanboy as a kid way back before Episode II came out. He just looked cool. And he had a jetpack. So when the Episode II trailers started playing, I thought, "oh cool, Boba Fett's going to be in this one, it'll be super awesome!"
THEWULFMAN wrote: Yeah, and thats pretty much the exact reason I hate Boba Fett, and his "dad". And the Mandalorians, for the most part.
I don't see why that's a reason to hate a character. Looking cool is going to be the core reason for pretty much anyone to like characters or objects in action/sci-fi films like Star Wars. That's why so many people like Boba Fett. Or Darth Vader. Or Plo Koon. Or clones. Or X-wings. Or lightsabers. They just look cool, whether they serve an important purpose or not. That's basically the whole reason I like Star Wars in general. It has good music and lots of neat stuff in it. The story itself is just a hodgepodge of elements from fantasy/mythology/sci-fi put together to create your standard hero's adventure, but it's entertaining and enduring because of all the cool little details that create the galaxy in which it all happens.

I hate him because he is a bad guy, he isn't some cool bad guy that turns good, he is a bad guy. I dont really like the armor, and Jetpacks never impress me in movies. I dont like the way people got obsessed over his character, when he has no character(in the movies). I just dont see the alure, and then I come across these people obsessed with the Mandalorian culture and all that, and I find it strange.

Dont get me wrong, I love Star Wars, a LOT. I love its expanded universe, I love learning about the expanded universe. I just find it odd that Boba has such a large fanbase compared to everything else. But I find a lot of times that I dont like the expanded stories, like for Plo Koon, Aayla Secura, characters with stories that dont make sense to me. Like for example, Plo Koon's "Force Judgement" makes no sense to me, thats not something a Jedi should do, at least not to me. And I take a lot of these stories with a grain of salt. But I dont accept all the mandalorian crap.

Bottom line, Boba does not deserve that much of a fan base IMO. I have the right to hate him if I want.

I can think of plenty of cool-looking objects from the Phantom Menace that didn't save the movie from critical reception.
Eggman wrote:They just look cool, whether they serve an important purpose or not.
Sure they look cool. But the effects don't make a good film. The story is of utmost importance. That's why so many people dislike the prequels so much in comparison to the original trilogy.
Eggman wrote:...but it's entertaining and enduring because of all the cool little details that create the galaxy in which it all happens.
It's enduring because the original characters were memorable and because Lucas and friends are still around making more and more Star Wars-related material. The entertaining aspect is far more subjective (though I do love the little details).

Fun Fact:
Some of the Lightsabers In the original trilogy were made from camera side-flash attachments!

On a similar note, the black strips on the end of Vader's hilt are actually cut-up windshield wiper blades

Fun Fact: The Luke Escaping from the Wampa Cave scene was shot on a glacier in Norway. There had been a massive snowstorm, so they just filmed Luke running out of the hotel doors.

Out off curiosity, why do we associate "I concur" with Plo Koon? I mean, I think I watched through every Season 1 clip with him in it, and not once did I hear him say "I concur"... (It couldn't have started in Season 2, because the phrase became popular here before then). Maybe I missed it, but if he only says it once, anyway, why has it become so mainstream here on GT? It's not like his catchphrase or anything...

Unless of course, it's one of those expanded universe stories. It can't be from the movies because Plo Koon doesn't utter a word in any of them. In fact, we hear Ki-Adi-Mundi say "I concur," but not Plo Koon.

I THINK WE DESERVE AN EXPLANATION MR. WULF. =P

This has come up before, so I will just quote myself.
THEWULFMAN wrote:That would be my "fault". I started that running joke almost a year ago. I used the Plo Koon smilie from the start for these reasons,
A) The Wolfpack, and Commander Wolffe, are led by Plo Koon. The wolfpack, and Wolffe, are my favorite clones, and Plo Koon is one of my favorite Jedi, my favorite being Aayla Secura.
B) There is no Ki-Adi Mundi smilie, at least that I know of.
C) While Plo only says "aye" in the movie, I am about 70% certain I heard him say "I concur" in the CGI Cartoon, which I am a big fan of.
I pretty much just associated "I concur" with the Jedi council, and Plo happened to be the easiest smilie to use, since its right on the list. I actually never intended it to become a running gag or whatever, I just said it once on Oct 02, 2010, which, Twilight, was after Season 2 was over, matter of fact I first said it on a post about Season 3. I just got into the habit of saying it after that. Its "mainstream" on GT for the same reasons I started using it, its a simple and fast way to agree with someone, and its very Star Wars, at least to me, and I dont know if you have noticed, but this site seems to like Star Wars related stuff. :P

In a slightly unrelated note: I also had a gag about people only getting to use it once, I dont mind people using it, but I would like to let them know that the staff would appreciate it if you added a couple lines of your own, as just saying "I concur" can be considered spam.

Ok. :P
I also always thought it's weird Boba Fett (and the Mandalorians) had such a big fan base and I never liked that some guy even wrote a story about Boba Fett surviving the Sarlacc. I hate how the Expanded Universe ***** up so many things, like the Emperor having clones (WTF) or the story of The Force Unleashed (although it's fun to play)...

Kyle Katarn didn't use his lightsaber to kill Gorc and Pic. In the novel, he shoots Gorc in the face (in a scene that's similar to the one in Raiders of the Lost Ark...) and bashed Pic's skull in with 8t88's head. Source

Well, judging by the way the novel phrased it, it was at least a quick death....

The CIS made cortosis battle droids to gain a significant advantage over the Jedi, but Palpatine thought this gave the CIS too much of an advantage and therefore gave away the location of where the cortosis droids were being made so the facility could be raided.
