First Original Star Wars Game Built Exclusively for the PSP® and Nintendo DS™ Handheld Systems Hits Stores December 2006
SAN FRANCISCO – AUGUST 17, 2006 – Today Ubisoft, one of the world's largest video game publishers, announced Star Wars: Lethal Alliance™, an action-adventure game developed for the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system and Nintendo DS™ by Ubisoft's Montreal and Casablanca Studios, respectively. Set for a worldwide launch in December 2006, Star Wars: Lethal Alliance is being created by Ubisoft under a long-term licensing partnership with LucasArts.
Star Wars: Lethal Alliance is the first original Star Wars game built exclusively for the PSP system and DS, immersing players in an adventure that takes place between Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV A New Hope. Gamers will engage in collaborative gameplay as they embody both Twi'lek Rianna Saren and her security droid Zeeo. Hired by the Rebel Alliance, this deadly duo must work together to infiltrate Imperial planets and fight legions of evil fiends. Our heroes' ultimate goal: Uncover the Empire's most deadly secret – the Death Star.
“Ubisoft is honored to announce this exciting and innovative Star Wars game, the first original game in the legendary franchise built to take full advantage of the unique capabilities of both the PSP system and the DS,” said Serge Hascoet, chief creative officer at Ubisoft. “We have worked closely with LucasArts to create a game that further develops the Star Wars universe, and unveils some of the mysteries that have kept millions of fans enthralled for decades.”
Key Features:
One-of-a-kind collaborative fighting: Combine the elite weaponry and acrobatic skills of Rianna with the multifunctional defensive and slicing support of Zeeo to create a formidable team. Only by working together can you complete perilous missions and ultimately steal the plans for the Death Star.
Epic gameplay and cinematic action: From the chaotic planet of Coruscant to the dusty, dangerous alleys of Mos Eisley, Rianna and Zeeo must use an arsenal of tricks to complete their mission. Set up holographic disguises to fool Imperial guards, commandeer gun turrets, master death-defying flying escapes and battle carnivorous beasts.
First original Star Wars game built exclusively for handhelds: Multiplayer modes enhance collaborative gameplay while taking advantage of the unique capabilities of both the PSP system and Nintendo DS.
Iconic environments and characters: Your mission takes you to classic destinations such as the Death Star and Tatooine, and allows you to discover never-before-seen locations on Despayre, Danuta and Alderaan. Each new environment offers encounters with unforgettable Star Wars characters and species, including Boba Fett, Kyle Katarn, Princess Leia Organa, Darth Vader, Imperial officers, Rodians, Quarren and stormtroopers.

Wow, this can be really good... But, hmm, everything with Kyle Katarn is good.

RE: Star Wars: Lethal Alliance
If this game was for the next-gen consoles it might be interesting. As it is I'm not a big fan of handheld games due to their limited capabilities. Is this game going to be canon? Because weren't those escaped rebels in the Death Star supposed to steal the plans?

I'm going with canon because Ubisoft worked very closely with LA and the Star Wars Galaxy. Also I was able to find pics. But I think they are from the PSP. The graphics look pretty good. I really want to see some DS screens....

Rekubot what do you mean limited capabilites? THe DS has the most features on a handheld to date. Unless you mean controls and graphics. Also the release date is December 2006

Yes, I meant limited capabilities compared to the next-gen consoles. Such an important time during Star Wars and they decide to stick it onto a handheld platform.

RE: Star Wars: Lethal Alliance
I can think of a few reasons why they went with handheld instead of nexgen.
1. The story wasn't big enough for a console
2. LA is waiting 4 all nexgen systems are released.
3. They're saving the big guns till the 30th Anniversery
4. Their main focus is the 4-5 games on their site.

RE: Star Wars: Lethal Alliance
Off-topic : I do not know too much whether you have figured out these amazing Details earlier, but all I can say is that the Ubisoft Entertainment® Devising having been argued about along the precedent messages is actually sharing a significant Amount of Common Points with a LucasArts® one those having ordered and installed it must have possibly enjoyed, and being also known as Star Wars Jedi Knight : Jedi Academy, which is especially applicable towards the Explorable Environments and Classes featured through the concerned Product. Incidentally, I am currently fearing this same Design might suffer from a certain Lack of Innovation and brand-new Resources, but since it has not been completed and released yet, I prefer keeping to stay as much Optimistic and Hopeful as possible while awaiting for this highly-anticipated Video Game to be eventually available inside our usual Specialized Stores...

Ubisoft's work on the side-scrolling Episode III game for DS was great. Can't wait for more news on this one.

Yes that was a great game. Also the 3-D space missions and instant action we're great. Too bad it didn't have download and play. Yeah you needed to 2-4 games to play multiplayer. Not one like some games. I'm excited about this game. It annoys me that they only have shown PSP pics and not DS pics.
Fact more DS's have been sold than PSP's.
