An asset is anything you can use to make your mod better. A model, texture, animation, effect, etc. If it can be used in a mod or help make a mod, it's an asset to you.

Is that how maps are made with choosing a side? like you got a map, then you select a few models to take some classes, and save that map a a modified version and it goes under the list of maps in the game? im just guessing here..

Pretty much, sort of.... Everything, e.g., props, effects, sides and their models and requisition files, etc., models, animations, sounds; EVERYTHING that makes up a map is considered an asset.

@BadWolf: Not to be mean here, but please realize that Gametoast is primarily a SWBF2 modding site. It has accumulated a vast wealth of modding knowledge over its seven years of existence, which can easily be found in the The FAQ / Everything You Need Thread Version 2.0 and using the forum's Search function. Seriously, please stop asking questions that have already been answered. Learning by one self is all part of the modding process...

thanks for the link, but come on, that wasnt nessasary, i know very little of swbf2, i just wanted just to ask a spefic question about assests. If i put in assests in search and go though 200 pages, or ask someone here? but that is something i should have looked into first, FAQ, because most if not all fourms have them. Sorry if i upset you with this.. newbish behaviour.

Yes, that was very necessary. It was a precautionary measure to prevent you from asking any more basic questions. Imagine if every new person that registered made a new topic asking basic questions that have already been answered elsewhere on the forum. The forum would then be cluttered with these topics. And the people who had answered those questions would be completely disregarded. Do you understand what I am trying to tell you? I'm only trying to help you help yourself; make you autonomous when it comes to learning how to mod. And no need to apologize at all.
