Your opinion is needed
PLEASE READ FIRST:
Nobody is promising that there will be a new version of the Convo Pack. It's just that the staff has been discussing things in private and we're not all agreed on what to do. So please let us know your opinion. The Convo Pack was originally built so that everyone would want it, so then there would be enough interest to have it on dedicated servers and play online. We've done that, but now the community focus has shifted. Having lots of big mods out there means you can't have many of those installed plus your favorite maps without going over the 500 mission limit that's in the game. For that reason, and for reasons of making it more stable online and in single player we're THINKING about updating the pack based on community consensus and what we feel is right on the whole. Please let us know your opinion, and pass the word around in other SWBF communities. We want to know how the whole SWBF2 community feels - not just Gametoast.
Oh, and feel free to post more specific suggestions in your replies here.
REMEMBER!!! We're not promising to do anything. We want your opinions first.
*****IMPORTANT EDIT*****
Apparently polls are repaired I will update this shortly but please make sure to vote above. Please reply with your opinion by copy/pasting your choice into a reply. You may add to that choice, but please start a new line. Any posts that don't have one of those exact choices will be ignored (because I'll have to write a script to tally the votes in MS Excel, so they MUST be copy pastes of the above choices)

My vote:
Cut out everything that's mentioned above, but release all the other stuff as a separate download (aka a "Bonus Pack")

changed my vote to add the separate bonus pack

Re: Your opinion is needed
Cut out everything but the original SWBF1 maps, some vehicles, and some heroes. That's all I want!
Like to play the BF1 maps on line but the only one that plays consistanly without crashing is Bespin Cloud City. The others are hit and miss as to how long they can be played before they CTD.

Cut out just the big or buggy maps: Concord Dawn, Raxus Prime, Haruun Kal, etc... I could care less if they get released separately, I don't play them because they're either too big or too buggy!

Re: Your opinion is needed
Feel free to comment as well guys, your posts don't have to have just the "vote" (it just needs to be on its own line)
For instance, one of the things we've been talking about is what modes to trim on what maps. So what modes don't fit on maps? For instance, maybe 1-flag CTF is awesome on Bespin Platforms, so maybe 2-flag is not needed (might have already been cut, I can't remember -- it's just an example anyway).
But anyhow it looks like so far there's a definite opinion on cutting out some maps.

Just trim down the number of missions, please. I can't fit the Convo Pack, Dark Times II, BFX and my favorite maps in 500 missions!
How ever you do that, I don't care.

I'm a bit busy right, but I'll post my thoughts later.

This. Although, if you did this, seperate bonus packs would be nice, such as just adding the maps or just adding gamemodes.Deviss wrote:same here:

The Conversion Pack is a fantastic mod with a lot of high-quality content, but when I had it installed I really didn't touch a lot of it because I just wasn't particularly interested in it. For example, I don't think I ever once played through a round of Capture the Holocron. I basically used the Conversion Pack for the stock BF1 maps and KotOR era. After I moved BF2 to a new computer, I never re-installed the Conversion Pack because I just didn't want to have that much space taken up when I was only going to use a small amount of it. That said, I'm sure there are plenty of people who enjoy the extra content, and I would hate to see all the work that went into it be cut out. Depending on how much is cut, you could even have a few separate Bonus Packs - one for extra modes for the BF1/stock BF2 maps, one for extra maps (Concord Dawn, Raxus Prime, etc.), and so on. If I was splitting the Conversion Pack up, I would do it like this:
Main mod: Stock BF1 maps with CW/GCW Conquest, Classic Conquest, 1/2 Flag CTF modes
Bonus Pack 1: Adds extra maps (Concord Dawn, Raxus Prime, etc.) with same features as main mod
Bonus Pack 2: Adds extra modes to all maps (main mod and first Bonus Pack) - Hero Assault, XL, Uber, Capture the Holocron, etc.
Bonus Pack 3: Adds KotOR era to all maps
That would cover all the content of the Conversion Pack, but it would give people a bit more choice in what features they install. For example, I would install the main mod plus Bonus Pack 3 and maybe Bonus Pack 2 since I enjoy a round of XL/Uber mode every now and then.

*I'd like it if you guys might cut out all those team DMs, and perhaps revamp Order 66 mode to fit the specific world. And PLEASE, if you do make it, PLEASE try to reduce the filesize, I'm hoping to get the 6.47 gig Star Wars Galaxies, and SWTOR..... A computer can only fit so much. Oh yeah, maybe try a roleplay mode in place of the team DMs. I really don't care, but that'd be interesting*

When I first came to GameToast almost two years ago, the Conversion Pack brought me here. I was so excited that I could finally play my favorite BF1 maps in BF2. But, those were all I played from the conversion pack (well, that and Alderaan Hero Assault becasue Kit Fisto is awesome). I agree with Eggman that multiple "Bonus Packs" should be released, but I think you should just release the extra maps separately. Because, quite honestly, the non-stock game modes, KotOR eras, and maps like Alderaan, Concord Dawn, and Haruun Kal, while they ARE great concepts and done rather well (even if slightly buggy), they have nothing to do with converting SWBF1 into SWBF2.
So, MY two cents on the bonus pack layout is:
Main Mod: All SWBF1 maps, both stock eras, plus all stock game modes (conquest, ctf1/2, XL, add campaign to instant action, plus add hero assault to all maps, pretty much only the game modes that came with the SWBF2 disc)
Bonus Pack: Adds new game modes (Uber, Holocron, Hero CTF, Team DM, Order 66, etc) plus KotOR era
Then release the separate maps one at a time to unclutterify the instant action list.
Looking back, maybe classic conquest should be included with the main mod, too, since it's actually part of the SWBF1-SWBF2 conversion.

I dl'ed for rhen var and bespin. The rest was... Interesting, played most maps/ modes once or twice.
Keep the space maps.
