Re: Star Wars old republic
Phew. I hope they succeed at that. Most MMO stories are rather crappy, and all "quests" are the same. I don't like MMOs.How does Star Wars: The Old Republic differ from other MMO titles?
Star Wars: The Old Republic will be similar to other MMOs but with several key innovations. Traditionally MMOs are built on three pillars; Exploration, Combat, and Progression. We at BioWare and LucasArts believe there is a fourth pillar: Story. Our mission is to create the best story-driven games in the world. We believe that the compelling, interactive storylines in Star Wars: The Old Republic are a significant innovation to MMOs and will offer an entertainment experience unlike any other.
Yay! I bet T3's in there. Maybe even HK!Will I see any characters from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic?
Given that it is approximately 300 years since the events of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, many of the characters have passed away. However, their legacy does live on as many of their descendants will be part of Star Wars: The Old Republic. Some droids can last a long time as well.
Good. No tight deadlines, PLEASE. The deadline is what messed up KotOR 2.When will Star Wars: The Old Republic be released?
No release date has been set for Star Wars: The Old Republic.
I'm not too happy about it being an MMO, but who knows, it's way too early to really have an opinion about that.

Wooo, finally a KotOR game (or like one) that has multiplayer!! I just hope it's f2p, because I'm never paying monthly fees to play games

Re: Star Wars old republic
I extremely doubt the possibility of it ever being free. There has never been a free Star Wars game. LucasArts is a big company and they will want to make a lot of money off of this game. I hate p2p games but I guess their the only decent MMORPG's. LotRO and SWG are right now the only good MMORP's (sorry WoW fans!) and most free MMORPG's are crap.PhantoM wrote:Wooo, finally a KotOR game (or like one) that has multiplayer!! Yeah, very small chance it won't be p2p. Oh well, if it's 5€ a month or so I'd be sorta OK with it I guess... Depends on where I'll be in the future.

Well crap you made this topic first!
Nevermind that I really can't wait for this, though! It looks epic! Like just the other day how nice it would be if they made a KotOR-type RPG for online. And looky here.

I think it looks great, but I don't like having monthly payments. I'd rather it be like Guild Wars, your buy the disc, but there's no monthly fee.

Ugh, monthly payments? I hate that sorta stuff.
There's now way my parents will let me get it if it's got payments.

No P2P would be great. If it was browser based, even better, however then it probably wouldn't be real good.

Re: Star Wars old republic
That would be cool if it came out for Consoles but the only problem I have with it is it means double subscriptions (if SWTOR has any) the normal fee for XBox Live, etc.

it is $14.95US monthly. Which compared to 9$ for a crappy 2 hour movie, I'd pay this without a thought.

Yep... Considering. That means they're *thinking* about putting in on consoles. That doesn't mean they will.

Re: Star Wars old republic
It sure sounds like SWTOR is being "Under Construction" for Console's to me. I don't know about anyone else but that's pretty clear to meEA exec Frank Gibeau wrote:Electronic Arts exec Frank Gibeau has confirmed that console versions of Star Wars: The Old Republic and Warhammer Online are "under consideration". Speaking to Eurogamer at the press event announcing SWTOR for PC, he said, "We're definitely looking at the opportunity to bring the MMO experience to console, without question.

Yeah I guess it won't be done right away. Even though its not fully being worked on at the moment, I'm sure they will release it on Consoles at some point. My point was...Teancum wrote:Opportunity does not equal development.delta 47 wrote:EA exec Frank Gibeau wrote:"We're definitely looking at the opportunity to bring the MMO experience to console, without question.
