Muzzle Flash options

Post by sampip »

I was trying to create a new type of shotgun, similar to the trench gun in COD 5 and, of course it needs a new muzzle flash, or discharge. you know, a bang and then some smoke.
problem is, as much as i change the muzzle flash, nothing happens, there is no flash, or no nothing. as far as i can see there is not much you can do here, but maybe im wrong. ive also tryed changing the discharge effect but i can't see any discharge either.
is there a way in which i can cause this new muzzle flash effect to happen?

I know there are some odf parameters that allow effects like you mention, and I know I've played around with them before and gotten something to work - although I don't remember which ones. You can feel free to play around with them (see psych0fred's odf documentation), or you could always use a trail effect (on your ordnance) to jimmy in a "fire effect."

There was a topic on this just recently that you may want to take a look at: click here.

That topic only pertains to buildings and vehicles. He's talking about infantry here.

Why don't you just use the regular muzzleflash parameters? They let you customize the colors, the size, the length and the duration.

Actually, that topic originally was about changing muzzleflashes for units (read the first few posts). I wouldn't have referenced it if it was only about vehicles.
