Making AI use trenches
Hello all. I was able to make my desert trenches sucessfuly. Theres just one problem... how do I make the AI use the trenches properly?
What I want my AI to do is go thru the trench, if they see something, shoot, then move on. The lets say they get attacked in there base. I would want my AI to use the trenches, and this time stay in them, until there are no more enemies, then move on. Is there an easy way to do this in ZE? Currently, my AI either 1) get stuck or 2) dont use the trenches. I know I would probably need to use hint nodes, and I tried but the node wont change from "snipe" The node type doesn't change from snipe, but the sub-menu's do ( primary stance, secondary stance, for patrol the sub menu shows target name, but the node type is still snipe). All in all, is there an easy way to make AI use my trenches the way I want them to?
EDIT: an easy way to help me rather then posting on GT a lot would be to add me on x-fire. It is soap82020. There is nothing wrong with the forums, it just would be easier for me ( and probably everyone else ) in terms of solving my problems since I have a lot of them.

I suppose you could plan the AI through the trenches, and then use hint nodes to either snipe, take cover or whatever. You might want to look at Hoth in ZE and see what the game designers did with their trenches.

Alongside this, place barriers along the walls of the trenches so the A.I. do not get stuck.yuke5 wrote:I suppose you could plan the AI through the trenches, and then use hint nodes to either snipe, take cover or whatever. Don't worry about that. I'm sure that there are plenty of people out there who have the same questions as you or will, so by posting a question on GT, and having it answered. It's also answering a lot of unspoken questions, or at least that is what I like to think.Tears2Roses wrote: EDIT: an easy way to help me rather then posting on GT a lot would be to add me on x-fire. you should go sure thta the trenches arent to deep if you use sniper or covernodes because the ai will kneel down when using them.

Only if you tell them to. There's an option in ZeroEditor for hint nodes that allows you to tell the AI to stand or crouch (there's a third option too, but I can't remember it off the top of my head).DarthD.U.C.K. wrote:you should go sure thta the trenches arent to deep if you use sniper or covernodes because the ai will kneel down when using them.

the third is "prone". But I think that's impossible in SWBFII.Xavious wrote:Only if you tell them to. Correct; Pandemic started working on it and was originally going to put it in but didn't because it was too problematic and they didn't think people really every used it.yuke5 wrote:the third is "prone". But I think that's impossible in SWBFII.

Re: Making AI use trenches
I mean't if I had a LOT of problems, it would be easier to use x-fire than to have 50 posts. Again, NOTHING is wrong with using the forums. Just might be easier for me/others.yuke5 wrote:Don't worry about that. EDIT: The AI use the planning now, and go thru the trenches. Thanks for all the help guys! Thank you to marth, for helping me get the planning straight
