Some pathing help high maps?
Ok, I'm making a map called Kril'dor station and its based up in the air. I lowered the ground so it looks like its hovering. But when I make pathing hubs, I cant stick them to objects so it sticks on the ground under my map. I am really confused...

Pathing will always be based upon height of ground.Recon Trooper wrote:Ok, I'm making a map called Kril'dor station and its based up in the air. I lowered the ground so it looks like its hovering. The way of getting around this(applying pathing to a higher level) is simple: raise the terrain level to that of ur desired pathing level.
Once done, simply return the terrain to original form.
BE WARNED: Once you lower the terrain the hub/connection is freezed and can't be edited anymore, I don't beleive returning the terrain to "editing" size will fix that. So make sure you are done with the pathing before actually normalizing the terrain.

To help with what Coda is saying, browse to your data_[levelname]/Worlds/[levelname]/World1 folder, copy [levelname].TER, and paste it on your desktop. Then open ZE and move the terrain up right underneath all the objects, do the planning, save and test. When you're satisfied with how the planning works (after in-game testing), cut/paste [levelname].TER from your desktop back to your /World1 folder.

I guess it's already been addressed, really, but I thought planning was at all heights? I thought that was why it's hard to make multiple levels with planning?

yes it is, but if you are trying to plan around objects and the ground is 2000 feet below it would be extremely hard to know where you are planning.
a side note: whenever I plan in orthographic view the hubs always show up about half an inch from my cursor, which doesn't really work when you need precision. anyone know what the problem is here and how to fix it?

That's what the Height slider is for...myers73 wrote:...but if you are trying to plan around objects and the ground is 2000 feet below it would be extremely hard to know where you are planning.

Slide it to the right, and the visual representation of the path increases in height.

That helps some, but its still easy to get your planning off.
