Not as far as I know, and I can't see a reason why they should or would. I've seen the two together in stock maps' .fx files as well.lucasfart wrote:@ Marth - Don't HDR and blur conflict?

Re: Field Assault
I concur with Marth, I've never seen them conflict. I use both in practically all of my maps.

Re: Field Assault
Agreed, I use them both as well in all of my maps. There should be no conflict, as Marth and THEWULFMAN said.

Re: Field Assault
I agree too because I already put the code in the .fx and everything works fine.
How does this rain look? Does it look better than the snow?

Re: Field Assault
I think the rain creates a much more gloomy atmosphere, but the snow creates a more climate specific atmosphere. It's whatever you want, really. Both are good choices, although the snow is better suited to the northern (or southern) lights.

Re: Field Assault
A tad bit of rolling fog would be nice to go along realistically with the rain or snow.

Thanks
So I put in some foliage.
Does it look good or does it not fit?

Re: Field Assault
I think it looks good, the map looked far too empty to me before, it now looks better, add some trenches (slight reskin of the hoth ones would look nicely) add some stuff in there, ammo boxes etc. miscellaneous props. It should feel like a warzone, battles are chaotic, there should be lot's of military stuff laying around.

Re: Field Assault
I thought you meant ZE foliage, not props. They look okay, though the trunks could be snowier. One thing that catches at me, though, is the sky - odd to see a thunderstorm against blue sky. Usually it's overcast all over. You have some clouds directly above you, it seems, but the blue still looks odd in the distance. The hills also look somewhat artificial, like they're enclosing some kind of outdoor arena. Did you add boundaries? I would recommend varying the terrain height even more in the playable part of the map.

Re: Field Assault
This looks really good to me at least except for one thing you might want to fix: The lightning. In the second picture it goes in front of the trees and looks odd. Of course I wouldn't know how to fix that as I'm not that good at modding, but I just wanted to point that out.

Re: Field Assault
It looks odd to us now because we can closely scrutinize it. I'm sure it'll seem better in-game, when you just see it for a moment and don't get a chance to look too closely.
It actually reminds me of Minecraft somehow....

Yeah I'm with Fiodis, that lightning looks the same as it does in the stock game to me.

The green sky doesn't make sense if it's raining....

Re: Field Assault
I removed the northern lights. If the lightning is bothering some people I can remove it and revert back to boring snow.

It can occasionally rain on a bright day on Earth, so if a bright day on this planet features a green sky, then it can surely make sense.JAWSFreelao wrote:The green sky doesn't make sense if it's raining....

Re: Field Assault
You're totally right. I've seen it rain on a bright day before, so this is correct.AQT wrote:It can occasionally rain on a bright day on Earth, so if a bright day on this planet features a green sky, then it can surely make sense.JAWSFreelao wrote:The green sky doesn't make sense if it's raining....

Re: Field Assault
Still, 95% of the time we associate rain with overcast skies. It could be otherwise, but that's hard to pull off convincingly in a game, much less one from 2005.
