New Eras?

Post by giftheck »

I noticed the Assault Mode in BF2 and wondered? Can you make a new era so you can play as different characters? I wanted to make a deathmatch in which you can choose from all playable classes.

Moved to BF2 Moddling

And, in answer to your question, this is not possible yet, since the BF2 tools haven't been released.

Which I can't wait for.... and to see all these cool mods/maps come out. :D Especially if someone started to make the Era during and after the Mandalorian Wars, or maybe even the Jedi Civil War, or... the Great Hyperspace Wars or Sith War- with Nothing But Dark and Light Jedi on the Battlefield, like Thule. :D Or heck maybe all of the Clone War battlefields- Like Muunilinst, Jabiim, etc.

Battle of the Star Forge would be nice.

Move this back to BF1 Modding tools forums because thats what I meant, can you create a new era in BF1? Sorry, should have made myself plainer earlier.

Moved back

I'm not sure anyone's ever tried to. It might be possible.

You can, however, rename an era on a per-map basis, making that era change. For instance, instead of "Galactic Civil War", you can have "New Republic". You just have to localize that particular key in your level.

Tried it. It doesn´t work. It will still display CW or GCW in era selection.

Ditto.

and RevanSithLord, there IS a Mandalorian Wars

We're just currently starting to learning to create animations and units so we don't release anything bad

And rends, how did you do that? when I took the localize file from the Mod tools (there's a file which shows all of the comments and such) it STILL don't have the same amount of bytes, so it crashed

Like Teancum said i tried it map based.
so i opened the localize tool of a testmap and added common.era.cw to the root and named it Great Sith War but still displayed Clonewars in game

You sure you cannot create new eras? I really wanted to create my Deathmatch era. Perhaps I can create a new map, set it as GCW and have it on a new Geonosis map or somethin... :atatpilot:
