RE: changing shipped sides names?
You'd have to make a whole new side. Even then, I'm not sure that you can.

RE: changing shipped sides names?
Would you mind being more precise, flip' ? Thus, do you want to modify the name of a unit called from "imp.lvl" (Such as the "Storm Trooper", the "Imperial Pilot" or others...), or the label of the whole faction ? (Like the "C.I.S.", the "Empire", etc...)

Re: changing shipped sides names?
Sorry for bumping this ancient topic, but I have the answer, but it works for only a mod map and not the main game.
Open your localization tool. Add a Root Level Scope labelled "common". There, add anotehr scope called "Sides". Then, add another scope called "imp". Add three keys - one named "name", one named "name_m" and one named "longname". Then, inside those keys, just put in "Imperial Remnant". Save, munge, test. I did the same for my hero assault mods for the BF1 Main Play - I cahnged the names from Imperials/Rebels/CIS/Republic to Heroes/Villains.
