Wierd Error

Post by Xavious »

Does anyone know what this error means?

Code: Select all

Message Severity: 3
C:\Battlefront2\main\PebbleFL\Common\PblConfig.cpp(9)
PblConfig: invalid config; 'SCOP' chunk expected
chunk.GetId() == _ID( 'S', 'C', 'O', 'P' )
I ran into it while working on Pinguin/Aman's Angruya map. At first, the problem was only in hunt mode, then I somehow got the same error in conquest mode later. Pinguin says he doesn't remember having a crashing problem, but when I got the map from him, hunt mode was already crashing. I brushed it aside, since I figured I'd just concentrate on conquest for the moment. Then the error crashed conquest mode after I made a few changes. (Nothing major, just moved a couple objects and changed a couple of sounds)

So has anyone encountered this problem before, or does anyone know what this error is?

I really hate to bump this, but it's been three days and I haven't gotten any responses whatsoever. I've tried to fix this on my own, but I can't seem to figure out what's wrong.

A little bit of help would be much appreciated at this point.

Throwing out ideas doesn't help at all. If you know absolutely nothing about this I'd prefer you didn't post.

Could a sound crash a map? What is this Pebble thing, or do you have no idea?

I don't know, that's why I'm asking.

Well, as for debugging something like this, it's a little more complex but possible.

1-Move the original project to the desktop or somewhere safe.
2-Create a new project with the same 3 letter ID
3-Go to the NEW project's /worlds/###/world1 folder delete all that junk
4-Copy the OLD project's /worlds/###/world1 files into the new ones
5-Munge and test

If you get the map rolling then you know it's not a world-based issue.

I know debugging like that sucks, but when it's something like that it's much easier to do that than to start going backwards and undoing what has been done.

I did that, and I'm still getting the same crash.

Just a shot in the dark, but try the "Update World REQ and MRQs" Button.

And I'd resave all the mode layers and such to, seeing as its a world/mode based problem.

Maybe those files became corrupted somehow.
