Since the Rebels don't really have their own transport in BF2, I decided to build the ATR6 to replace the LAAT. It's about 50 to 60% JabbaLovesLava has offered to texture it for me which is great cause my skills are lacking a bit when it comes to that. Jabba I'll send you files soon.
I have got it in game now, it is small enough to leave the hanger, yeah, unfortunately I am having a bit of trouble making it land in the other hanger (too many things in the way to land like AI and stuff I think)
Anyway it flys like a pig, takes punishment like nobodies business and has a good arsenal of weapons. If I can get it to work I may also make it so it can lay mines (another thing I am working on).
@ Achronos part of the stretched look is from the just thrown on texture but after I posted the pictutres I did go back into XSI and reduced the length by 25%. There is no detail on front yet so nothing to look at.
@RAymo
no offence taken trust me I really just did a simple Phong texture on it so it wasn't all grey. Been thinking about engine effects probably do something similar to the Y-wing (need a bit of flame)
@ lieutenantcoda
I am trying to give it the weapons as indicated, hopefully the turrets too. As for shields hmm that's a tough one as it is now it can take a lot of punishment and that is just using the settings from the LAAT. Mind you if it did have a shield it would probably be able to survive and do some damage on the intense space battles like Kal-Tarra.

funny how i was just thinking that the y-wing effects would look nice
Not so much of a model update but ordinance update. After much struggling with ODFs I have made it so the ATR6 will deploy mines.
They will take out most ships upon contact, on transports they just do damage.
Also notice engines now have that nice pink glowy effect
Well done on the mines. If you feel up to it, you might want to create (bearing in mind I have no idea how you personally set this up) a larger, invisible mesh that encircles the mines, so that you could make them proximity mines rather than simply on-contact mines. It would make their use perhaps a little easier.
The mines do have a collision mesh that is larger than the mine already, this is because they are not actually a mine persay not like what the rocketeer drops. I tried to make it use the dispenser weapon but the mines just kept sticking to the ship rather than deploying into space. It looked funny flying around with 10 or so mines sticking out all over the place and they would go off if and enemy got too close (the ultimate suicide vehicle) It's actually a shell ordinace with 0 velocity and gravity and a very long life but with the collision sphere it acts just like a mine. And the possiblity of totally covering a hanger exit with mines is slim as it will only dispense one mine every 4 or 5 seconds I can also limit the amount of mines it carries. The one down side of it being a shell is you can't destroy them with laser fire. :twisted:

Pretty slick solution to your problem. Sounds neat to me.
Well... I got a bit of a problem for now. I'm in Europe without a computer that has photoshop =( Maybe I'll manage to find one that does have it. Just in case send the files, but I might not be able to do anything for 1 1/2 month =/ Sorry
Woah That's awesome with the mines. I love the model but there's something about it that I just don't like..... I can't put my finger on it but there's something. But keep up the good work
