Is shell.mvs necessary?

Post by hypshadowthehedgehog »

Hi. i'm trying to move Star Wars Battlefront 1 onto a school computer. I'm blocked from installing anything, but I put the game files onto a jump drive and tried moving them over. However, one file, is about 800 mbs. in size
The file's name is shell.mvs
C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront\GameData\Data\_LVL_PC\Movies
Is it needed to run the game, because if I try to run it without this file, the game doesn't load up, although in the bar at the bottom of the screen, I see two instances of BF. one is what the game usually looks like, and the other has the same image, but says "Fatal."
I need to know if this is because I didn't move the entire game over, or if the file is needed.

That's the movie file. If the game doesn't find it then it crashes.

And no offense, but that's a really dumb idea. I work for a university and you can get suspended for doing that. My brother is a high school principal and actually HAS suspended kids for that. Schools don't like their computers being messed with. Is it really worth it to play SWBF1 on?

... I'll answer that for you. No, it isn't. If you feel like you just gotta have it at school then you've got some issues to work out.

Oh yes, I knew I saw a topic earlier that needed to be locked. This was it.

Just like we're not here to help you break the law, we're also not here to help you break your parents'/school's rules. Talk to your friends at school. Wait until you get home to play video games.
