What do you guys think about the chances of EA/Lucasarts/Dice releasing modtools for the new Battlefront at some point after the game's release?
My friend (who's a Battlefield fan) is almost certain they won't. I, for one, REALLY hope they release them.
P.S.: Not sure if I'm posting this in the right place so sorry if I'm not!

Probably like a 15% chance of it happening. Too much licensing, documentation, etc. to compile for it to be worth it to them most likely.
Mod-compatibility isn't really DICE's thing - heck, even Battlefield 2, a famous non-Frostbite game of theirs from 2005, barely had modding support.

15% is really optimistic. EA doesn't like modding because it essentially makes DLC pointless. Heck, there's some mods for Skyrim that does the same thing that the official DLC does.

Re: SWBF3 Modtools?
Sims 3 is special due to the nature of its DLC. Generally they add features in the DLC that are actually required by a lot of mods. So it's the exception, not the rule.

Re: SWBF3 Modtools?
It's had one teaser trailer. There's nowhere near enough data to assume anything. That being said, the largest single factor in mod tools comes from developers, as they are the ones to release and, to some extent provide support for, their tools. Publishers and IP owners merely sign off.
