Part one of three of the Battlefront Redemption mod.

Screenshots included.

Part one consists of the Clone Wars.

The goal:to get people to play Battlefront 1 again.

How to install:
Must have latest BF1 patch.

Unzip, place in sides folder after backing up old files.

Left click on your BF 1 shorcut, click properties, hit find target, then go into data, then sides copy these files into there and say yes to
replace old files, make sure to back up those originals!

Stuff in all three parts:

This mod makes everything more like the movies and more realistic but also adds large amounts
of new weapons, pumps up the old ones (ex Beam Rifle, Flamethrower, EMP Rifle ect) and units into the game
(ex Bothan Spy, Wookiee Jedi Knight, Prototype Magnaguard, Genonsian Piolt).
This is part one CW.
No two units on the same side have the same weapon.
All it takes to kill the strongest unit is three blasts from a pistol. (Except Drodekia Shield)
Shots go furhter.
The units now better match their classes (ex snipers are faster but weaker).
Missles are more deadly.
All shots go faster.
Running while shooting is inaccurate.
Starfighters all have missles and move faster.
All heroes have force jump, force speed, force heal, force power and force block.
Much, much, much more.....

Changes to CW:

Clones:

Clone Trooper
-Blaster Rifle-6 clips
-Command Pistol (shoots faster and further but weaker then a regualr pistol)
-EMP Grenades-8
-Mines-15 (can lay up to 200)

ARC Trooper
-Missle Launcher-6 double rounds
-Carbine Rifle (shoots faster further and more acurate then blaster rifle but less in clip, and not as strong)
-Time Bombs-10 (can lay as many as possible since they have 10 seconds on them)
-Recon Droid-3 (the droids blaster is strong but the droid is weaker but it goes faster)

Republic Wookiee Jedi Knight (replaced pilot)
-Lightsaber Attack (you can't block in this mode)
-Lightsaber BLock (you can't attack in this mode, except for when you first swicth to this mode)
-Force Push (actually works too :))
-Health and Ammo Dispenser-7
The Jedi has a slow self heal, a force jump, and forcespeed too.

Clone Sharpshoot (New skin added, now red arc trooper skin)
-Sniper Rifle
-DN Bolt Caster (is now automatic :)
-Concussion Grenades-8
-Harpoon Gun

Jet Trooper (unlimited jet fuel)
-EMP launcher (triple round)
-EMP Rifle (Shots explode on impact withe EMP explosion)
-Thermal Detonators-8
-Fusion Cutter

The Republic Gunship fires faster rounds and two missles at once, and the hovercraft goes faster.


CIS

Super Battle Droid
-Wrist Blaster-8 clips
-Wrist Shotgun
-Wrist Rocket-8
-Orbital Strike (shoots out a beacon, can be charged for more powerful strike)

Prototype Magnaguard
-Missle Launcher-12 single rounds
-Magnastaff
-Anti Armor Attachment (perfect for killing jedi)
-Haywire Detonators (Sticks to stuff but explodes like a thermal detonator on impact)

Genosian Pilot
-Sonic Blaster (very powerful)
-Sonic Grenade Launcher (has six shots per clip)
-Fusion Cutter
-Health and Ammo-7
Has unlimited flying.

Assasain Droid
-Sniper Rifle (Two zooms)
-Blaster Rifle
-Concussion Grendades-8
-Mines-15 (can lay 200)

Droidekia
-Repeating Blasters (very powerful and long, large shots like in movies)
-Shield Emmiter (doesn't have a timer anymore)

The Hailfire Droid can fire all 32 missles wihtout reloading.
The AAT has missles and so does the Vulture Droid.

If anyone here (besides the author, obviously) wants to write a thorough, well-written review of this mod to be used in the description at SWBFFiles, I'd appreciate it, as neither I nor any of the other staff have SWBF1.

YAY! A SWBF1 mod. I'm going to go try it out right now. Do you have Xfire? If so add me, mine is rlratleader34. I'm a BF1 modder too so maybe we could do a mod together:).

@Maveritchell: No one has SWBF1 in the whole SWBF files staff?! Can you please recruit a new staffer that has SWBF1?

Oh... well if not you, who's it up to? Because we really need a SWBF1 staff member, the game is already dieing as it is, we need to get some life back into it.

Well, I have just downloaded and installed the Battlefront Redemption mod, and I guess if someone has to review it, I've got the time to kill.

I'll first begin with the title of the mod. I don't see what's exactly "redemptive" about it, but then again, the list of super-cool mod names is surprisingly limited, so it works just fine.

Just for the sake of getting it out of the way, I'll start with the things I didn't like. The first thing I noticed when I booted up Battlefront and opened Cloud City was the lack of localization correcting. The MagnaGuard is still Assault Droid (I didn't even know it was supposed to be a MagnaGuard until I reread your entire post), and the Wookiee Jedi is still Clone Pilot. A lot of weapons remain unlocalized as well, so that should definitely be something to fix for your next version.

Second off, I dislike how you gave the Jetpack, Shield, and Geonosian Wings infinite energy. I mean, I didn't like how low the energy bar was to begin with, but I feel that it's sort of stretching it when you give them infinite (at least the Shield and Jetpack, giving infinite to the Geo Wings actually makes some sense). I'll admit it's fun flying around without any energy depletion, but it sorta ruins the gameplay. For example, on Cloud City you can fly behind buildings with the Jet Trooper or the Geonosian without leaving the battlefield and camp there. I actually found an AI that somehow managed to lodge itself between two buildings outside of the main area. It took me almost twenty minutes to find him so I could end the match.

An issue related to weapons is the grappling hook equipped to the Clone Sharpshooter. I thought it to be kinda cool at first, thinking "Hey, I haven't seen very many maps with this thing. I wonder if it really works." Well, not really. In fact, I was pretty much goofing around for like five minutes trying to get it to latch on to stuff. Nothing really interesting happened until I pointed it at the ground and it sucked me halfway through and I died instantly.

Ok, so what did I like about this mod? Quite a bit. Just for an example, the Jet Trooper's EMP Rifle is awesome. I rather dislike overpowered weapons, but this is one of the few exceptions. I love firing down the Cloud City hallway and exploding everything in sight.

So, with all that said, it's a pretty good mod. Not bad at all considering that hardly anyone mods for SWBF1 anymore. It's pretty balanced and the basic concept is cool, but there are a few bugs that need fixing. No mod is perfect, but the more you devote yourself to it, the more you will appreciate it in the end, and that's all that matters. I will definitely download the next two parts when they are released.

Localization should be part of the core file. Unfortunately, I am not sure how to replicate one that would have all the right words for everything.

part two and three (Galactic Civil War and Native Sides) are being uploaded tomorrow

btw for a real challenege play this on hard and try not to die and still win

on hard you really need to order the bots around so they don't kill themselves

oh and turn friendly fire off

and yes there is going to be a version 2, the grapplinghook needs to be shot at buildings or vechiles, you need to hold it down, it will attach itself then keep holding it down and it should pull you in, btw it is mainly for snipers to use to get in good sniping locations

anymore ideas would be appreciated

oh and the magna guard has jump (half the height of jedis but it charges faster) and he can also jump from really high places and survive)


and if anyone could help me wiht the locization i would really appricate it, i already tried the tutorails but still couldn't get teh weapons named

Sorry, what I said was a little misleading (or just confusing). If you have localizations for a map, the core will be included in the map's addon folder (addon/<mapname>/data/_lvl_pc) after munging. There is also a core file for the main game as well, also in the _lvl_pc.

However, that one is significantly larger, and I can not remember all of what is in it. Can anyone remember if anyone successfully replaced it?

well in mods like elite sides for bf1 somehow those weapons have the right names, i am not sure what they did though, would be nice to find out

Final Verison Out!

Version 1.5 of the Battlefront Redemption Mod is out.

This version has all the original stuff in it from my first release, so check out that thread to see all the changes (there are a lot!)

Check on the Hyperlink below, it should be up later today if my internet doesn't go down again.

It is called BF1RedMod1.5

This Version makes the sides more balanced and fixes things to be more like the movies, and also adds some new things and fixes some old bugs.

This Verison didn't take anything out of the original just made changes and additions.
This has all the sides in it, so that is why it is so big, also you do not need Version 1.0 for this to work, just use this one.

The goal:to get people to play Battlefront 1 again.

List of Changes:
-The AI use haywires now, watch out.
-The Jettrooper has a sweet new skin, thanks to Sati for the Ep3 head.
-The CLone soldier has a new head, its a Ep3 head with dark red highlights.
-The Anti Armor weapon doesn't lock on to people (though it still can be shot at them), so the game is more balanced.
-The Jedi's Forceblock before had one swipe with the lighsaber, it still has the swipe but it doesn't do anything.
-The Jedi always has forceblock up, since it is the primary weapon, as secondary weapons you have force push, saber attack, and health and ammo dispeners. Again you can't block while attacking, and the AI bots now actually do something as jedi.
-The Darktrooper has droid health so a fusiono cutter heals him.
-All the sides rifles have been tweaked to be different, ex Clone shoots more accurate but not as fast as CIS.
-The Imperial Blaster rifle and Rebel Blaster Rifle have been changed to be a bit different: The Rebel one has less ammo but is more accurate and reloads faster, while the Imperial one shoots faster, has more ammo, but is less accurate.
-When Riding the Kaduu on Naboo Plains you can throw grenades and use a gunganstaff. The staff is the secondary wepon, and you have be right next to an enemy for it to work, and you don't actually see the
staff move, but hey it is still fun :).
-Super Battledroid fires the wrist shotgun faster.
-The Rebel Trooper moves faster, trying to get the hit and run perspective.
-Some old and usless files deleted to lower size, still very large though.
-Bowcast fires faster, is more accurate, even when moving, is more powerful, has more in a clip, has one more clip, and has a little more zoom.
-Wookiee has more grenades.
-Halfire shoots 30 missiles at a time instead of 32, only has 30 barrels.
-The STAP goes faster, more like a speeder bike speed.
-AT-AT shots have been lowered in size, are more accurate, but do less splash damage, but can
fire 4 shots without reheating, and do tons of building damage, destroys Echo Sheild Generator really fast
this actually make sHtoh a bit of a challenge wiht teh Rebels, if you watch Battle of Hoth, yuo can see that's what I was basing them off of, not the games version.
-Primary weapon of Wookiee Jedi is now forceblock, so now they can actually cover and protect you if you are a clone, don't worry they still aren't very hard to kill.
-The Bothan got a skin makeover, has all new skins for different worlds thanks to: Teancum & psych0fred.
-The Flamethrower lasts slightly longer.
-Forcepush has a longer range and area of effect, but doesn't do as much harm, use it a lot for pushing droids of the edge of cliffs :).
-MAF takeoff time decreased.
-Droidekia moves faster.
-Rebel Pilot has triple shotgun rounds now.
-Rebel Vanguard has one more missle clip added.
-Ewoks have knifes.
-EMP Launcher has triple round and does vehcile damage.
-Droidekia slightly more accurate when firing and moving.
-Arccaster area range wider, shoots a little faster.
-Laying Timebombs and mines goes really fast now, can lay all 10 timebombs in under 10 seconds.
-Jedi and Wookiees heal slightly faster.
-Heroes have don't have unlimited jumping.
-Genosians don't fly quite so high when they first take off.
-Vehciles with and R2-D2 Units repair faster.
-Wookie Gernade Launcher shoots further.
-The Rebel Vanguard can throw mines, jsut aim up and hit lay mine, use it to throw mines onto vehciles :).
-Timebombs do more damage and hae bigger radius.
-Spider Droid lasers shoots longer.
-Clone Sharpshoot has more two more clips in his carbide.
-All snipers have two zooms, the Rebels and CIS zooms are further though.
-A bug with the Haywire Grenade making bots get out of vechiles has been fixed.
-The CIS rifle shoots more accurate and goes further then the Wrist Blaster, but doesn't fire as quickly.
-Bolt Action Rifle fires a bit faster, is more accurate, even when running, and is more powerful.
-The ShockTrooper Projectile Cannon now fires in bursts, it shoots faster, the shots have been lowered in size, is a bit more accurate too.

Now this is probably the last version that will change anything gameplay/values related.

Since school is starting I couldn't localize or fix some minor bugs, don't worry they don't affect gameplay.
Examples are like how the Burst Rifle can fire when being reloaded, don't worry it is supposed to fire that fast, or how the Wookiee Jedi doesn't have a snow skin.
Those, and localization are stuf i would fix in my final version, but proably not anything gameplay/values related.
But if anyone would like to help me wiht those little things for the final release I would greatly appricate it.

If I was making a new Carbine, like, say, the DC-15S carbine, I'd simply name the .odf DC15S_Carbine.odf

and wa-la, it's "localized"
