Left-Hand Coordinates and a few other questions
Well, I recently got the Foundations 30-day free trial. I'm trying to export a new player model, but I'm having a little problem. I checked "Export Left-Hand Coordinates" and then when I open up the msh in the msh viwer, I can see the hp:
How would I fix this?

I'm pretty sure that it won't show up in-game.

Re: Left-Hand Coordinates?
That's one sick looking Kit!
Did you make that? And mshviewers show more than what will be ingame.. Just try ingame first, then see if it should be hidden (H-button in XSI) or not

@MandeRek: ^This is true.^ If you want it, you can have it.DarthRogueKnight wrote:*cough*heconvertedtoonces*cough*
ON-TOPIC: But the hp isn't even there in XSI, I only see it in the msh viewer. I hope that it doesn't show up ingame.

Re: Left-Hand Coordinates?
Do not click left hand coordinates that is a throw back to previous needs of XSI and games and such, it doesn't mean he will be left handed. It reverses everything (mirrors).
You can also hide the HP by selecting it and pressing H before you export. It will show up in game if you don't as it is a mesh

Re: Left-Hand Coordinates?
Oh it does stuff just nothing that is benificial to your cause, all you really need to check for a normal model is Selected things only and textures, if you want you can also check Use current pose as basepose.

Re: Left-Hand Coordinates?
If I check use current pose as basepose, though, won't it make the basepose the T-form? Or can I put it in a new pose then? And then, also, how do you make something a lefty in BFII? I'm pretty sure I've seen it before....

Re: Left-Hand Coordinates and a few other questions
Unless you are doing animations it is best to export units in the T pose as that is what most baseposes are in BF2, not all but most.
The command you are thinking of is OffhandWeapon = 1
If you look at the com_weap_inf_thermaldetonator.odf it is in there.

I thought that you used the msh.option command -lefthanded to make a unit left-handed.

Re: Left-Hand Coordinates and a few other questions
From the misc_documentation.doc in the shipped documentsFrisbeetarian wrote:I thought that you used the msh.option command -lefthanded to make a unit left-handed.
-righthanded
-lefthanded
For historical reasons, msh files are stored in the lefthanded format and must be mirrored along the Z axis to make them righthanded, -righthanded is now the default.
lefthanded and righthanded refer to the model mesh and not to whether a unit uses his right or left hand really

Re: Left-Hand Coordinates and a few other questions
I knew about that in the documentation, but I didn't know there was a difference between the model being left handed and the unit using the left hand as the main hand.
What does it mean for the model to be left handed?

Re: Left-Hand Coordinates and a few other questions
It has a lot to do with polygon orientation and creation within modeling programs.
Some programs use righthanded modeling which means if you create a polygon in a clockwise fashion the resulting poly face will be pointing towards you, if you are using a lefthanded modeling program you have to create the poly in a counterclockwise manner to have the resultant face point towards you.
But enough of that, Google can provide more indepth explanations if required.

Re: Left-Hand Coordinates and a few other questions
I guess I took it too literal instead of in terms of coordinate systems.

Re: Left-Hand Coordinates and a few other questions
So to make a unit a lefty, all I hafta do is put in teh weapon odf "OffhandWeapon = 1" and they'll have the animations and everything be left handed? Or will they just hold the weapon in their left hand?

offhand weapon only determinates that you dont see the weaponmodel when you are not fiering it..
