I know of a way in which you could make the hull of a star destroyer be "Cutable" in some areas. But it would take lots of time and its not worth it..xwingguy wrote:I told him that was impossible for the engine to allow a player to slice a hole in the hull of an Imperial Star Destroyer and jump into the hangar.vaders_Legion wrote:i know master skywalker put in a couple of nebulon b's and i learned from him that the battlefront 2 game engine sucks.
Name 1 engine that can do that outside a cut scene.

Slicing a hole in an SD wouldn't be very realistic anyway since there is no way to mimic (explosive) decompression when you slice a hole.Teancum wrote:It probably involves pre-making the hole in XSI. When you look in-game, the hole wouldn't seem to be there, but since it's a separate object, when you slice it would destroy that object, thus making the hole.

It depends on how realistic you'd want it. I mean, we could do it as an animation and make it look really good, but the physics of air decompression can't be done. It would simply be an animation of the cut hole moving and then some particle fx of the air decompressing.
Still not worth the time tho.

most imperial and republic soldiers had vac sealed suites, clones and commandos alike. Plus according to canon, rebel fighter pilots can even live for a time in those orange life jackets
Something about a small shield that closes the front of the helmet so they have a few minutes worth of air...

The hull can be breached from the outside by a tie shuttle (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/TIE_Shuttle) that is what breached the tantive IVs hull, it supposedly appears breifly in The Empire Strikes Back though ive never seen it...
The only reason why you are allowed to live outside in battlefront II is because to the game the inside and outside on the ship are exactally the same, the game doesnt know one is space and the other is a ship, and its a bit pointless putting a death region on the outside of the capital ship as you have no reason to be there and lucasart probally didnt even realise it was possible to "glitch" your way outside.
