Changing A Hero on a Map

Post by rlcrum17 »

Hey guys, I suck at modding, and the fact that battlefront 2 uses .lvl files doesn't make it easier. Right now, I'm trying to go into the mission.lvl file and change some heroes on various maps. For some reason, I am having a lot of trouble with this. I can succeed in changing some, but crash the game when I try to change others. Its a stab in the dark, bu this is something I would love to accomplish and need help in doing.

Thanks!

Alright, Im new to modding but I guess I am a little further than you, Ill help you get started here. Dont try and edit lvl files. You need to get the ModTools that come with decompiled assets to the game. If you want to edit heros, I beleive you go into the ODF files that you get from the decompiled assets.

Here is a way to go about learning mods that I am planning to follow:

1. look up jedimoose on youtube, watch all of his videos, every single one (related to swbfII modding ofc)
2. Learn how to make assets for the game
3. experiment / pull some voodoo and publish a tested mod :) (this one is really hard)

As rom4ster said you have to download the modtool to modify the game. Never edit the lvl files !!!
Once you have the modtool installed create your map and open AAAc_con.lua and edit the file (I don't remember the path for the lua file gonna edit the post later). If you don't know how to do that, use some tutorials here and watch the jedimoose's videos that's useful ! :D
