Re: New unit not visible in SWBF Viewer
Like I said before, don't worry about layers, they're just for scene organization and are completely optional, just skip them. All you have to do is import the unit template, then import your character and set up the hierarchy in an explorer window(press 8) with your character geometry as child of dummyroot, make bone_root a child of your character geometry then set the envelope with bones and export. You should delete the override_texture geometry too, theres no need for it. ZETools is capable of automating much of this. Start over in a fresh scene and make sure the texture displays correctly on the model. Posting screenshots of your hierarchy and scene would help too.

Re: New unit not visible in SWBF Viewer
Well... I think I'm solving it.
I was using Softimage XSI 2013, and not the mod tool. I'm now using the mod tools and all is fine. I'm following the tutorial again without problems. I can't export with ZE Tools so I installed the Pandemic Plugin. I think with this will work. But now I have a problem when I export. I'm using the normal Pandemic Plugin (not the fixed) and I have the problem of ActiveX. I searched here in gametoast and I found the solution of the cmd, but when I type it I have this error:
It says that it can't load the module:
"C:\Users\Zuna\Softimage\X...\PandemicExporter.dll"
It also says that I have to be ensure the binary archive is in the folder. But it is in the folder...
If I can solve this I think the model will work.

Re: New unit not visible in SWBF Viewer
Before you do anything else, install Softimage Mod Tool 7.5 and ZETools, these work fine together and both are free and immediately available to anyone. It is essential to have the right tools and version compatible plugins before taking on any tutorial.

Re: New unit not visible in SWBF Viewer
I had a similar problem. I would recommend softimage 2013 over mod tool 7.5. However, make sure you have python correctly installed. Search the ZE tools home page for information on that. Alos mkae suree you have visual c++ 2010 redistributeable if I recall correctly

I have both, Softimage 2013 and Mod Tool 7.5. Also I have Python 2.6 and Visual C++ 2010 redistributable. But I can't see the ZETools.
There is a way to make this in 3ds Max or Blender?

You can create the polymesh in another pipeline and then import it into XSI but it must be rigged, enveloped and weighted in XSI.

I just encountered the same problem with my republic commando and found the problem,
you need to open your tga and save as with RLE compression unchecked.

Re: New unit not visible in SWBF Viewer
Nothing... Doesn't work. I made three times the tutorial but I can't make the model work.Nedarb7 wrote:I just encountered the same problem with my republic commando and found the problem,

Also I can't install the ZE Tools in Softimage Mod Tool 7.5.
And I installed the Mod Tools and the ZE Tools in my laptop with Windows XP (my laptop is very slowly), but it doesn't work.
I don't know what can I do to make it work.

I know you said Python 2.6 and Visual C++ 2010 redistributable is installed, but what about the pywin32 extensions for Python 2.6? I'm just asking because you didn't mention this.AhsokaTano wrote:I have both, Softimage 2013 and Mod Tool 7.5. Also I have Python 2.6 and Visual C++ 2010 redistributable. But I can't see the ZETools.

Re: New unit not visible in SWBF Viewer
close softimage
Make sure your XSIZETools folder is installed to
C:\Users\AhsokaTano\Autodesk\Softimage_2013\Addons
And make sure its fully extracted. Also try making an environment variable:

Re: New unit not visible in SWBF Viewer
Yes, in Softimage 2013 it works, but it is the program which when I export I can't see the model in SWBF Viewer.
I have installed the Mod Tools 7.5 and inside it the ZE Tools, but I don't see the ZE Tools. I know they are installed because I can see them in the Plugin Manager:
